I'll explain the premise to you. Mitch Marner is one of the 10 best forwards in the league. He is a big time scorer and has Selke level play away from the puck. The point is that you aren't trading him for just any defenseman. If you're trading Marner for a defenseman, it better be a dam good one.

You can 100% trade him for defensive help. Maybe a team like Carolina. For Pesce and Jarvis. Face value some might say you lose the trade but if it makes them a much deeper team on the back end. Facts are this core 4 in the playoffs has been unsuccessful and a downright failure. That’s just a spit balling trade but he can 100% be moved for defensive help.

LOL, well sure you can trade Marner for a defenseman but you need to get value back. You would not trade Marner for Pesce and Jarvis. Nobody, myself included has said that you can't trade him for a defenseman. My point is that you're not likely going to get the level of defenseman you need in trading Marner to make it worth the deal.
