As we know with Lindros, health is a major part of the game. |

But hey, if you want to talk about one year and about a guy not having a 1C, he’s got to be in the next tier. No?

speaking of, CC looking like another early spring on the golf course, unless he ask for a trade. - hello it's me 2050
As has been pointed out to you numerous times this year, Giroux's play has been excellent, is almost a point a game at 35, and is in no way, shape or form responsible for Ottawa missing the playoffs this year. He has played well above his contract. |

Maybe 12-15. Just off the top of my head: McDavid, Draisaitl, Kucherov, Tkachuk, McKinnon, Matthews, Pasternak, Panarin, Hughes and Barkov. I would even rather have Willie Ny and Pettersson. - Minnyhock
Swap Pasternak with TK and you have it right - jd250

I think if we are to make the playoffs, it will have to be one of the top 3 spots in the Metro.
NYR
Carolina
Philly/ NJD
I don't think Philly fares well against Carolina...I don't need to point out their strengths. Even if it is NYR..I still don't like Philly's chances with that. If we get a WC spot, Philly would still be playing either NYR or Carolina....
- TheFreak
I don't fear Carolina, I really don't. I think the Flyers have matched up well against the Canes this year, and would have a decent chance of beating them.
That being said, though I would love for the team to make the playoffs and get that experience for their younger players, as well get Torts another Jack Adams award, I don't want the playoffs on the horizon in any way influencing the decisions at the deadline. If the Flyers get their price, they need to pull the trigger. I think they will. |

How can he get the Jack Adam’s award? It’s a triumvirate and there’s only one trophy.

The Canes are both a top 10 scoring team and top 10 defensively. With the way the Flyers play, I would rather play the Rangers. So are the Rangers. Both teams are very good and significantly better than the Flyers. It's pick your poison. - MJL
The Flyers matchup horribly with the Rangers, not just this year but over the past few years. I think the Canes are a good matchup. |

Would you have been willing to trade Claude Giroux in his prime for a B defenseman and some "depth"?

was he successful at it? if so how are you measuring that success? - hello it's me 2050
I guess it’s up to you to do your own research if you weren’t aware Risto played net front for the Sabres at times. |

If the team has failed to have any playoff success 7 years in a row like the leafs did. Absolutely, without hesitation. |

So you'd be happy with trading Giroux for Jake Gardiner and Nik Kulemin? Or something along those lines? If so, that's pretty foolish.
Those kinds of trades don't often work out like the Leclair/Rico trade where the "depth" instantly develops into a 50-goal scorer. |

The Flyers did have zero playoff success from 2013 -2019. Probably cause Giroux didn't try hard enough, especially in 2013-14 and 2017-18 when he was 3rd and 4th in Hart voting. |

Well obviously you just listed a crap trade; so not that one. But you should absolutely explore an option to solidify the D and bring in some depth by moving a key player. |

so you have no answer for my response to your answer. understood.
do you think it is safe to say RR was not successful as a net front presence. |

Well we both know how Kumelin and Gardiner ended up so it’s a crap trade. |

More than likely any b-dman and depth you'd have traded Giroux for would have turned into similar "crap".
It's the same situation with Marner.
If you trade an elite player and don't receive one in return, it's usually regrets. |
