So Habs lose another one goal game....with both Habs' scores coming from D. Perfectly illustrating just how bad the forwards group is.....one line, after that it gets sketchy as hell.
I know there have been a few short times where the PP looked like it was going to become something worth talking about, but those have been far and few. It has been years for any consistency.....I only ask, why does Burrows still have a job? |

The Canadiens have claimed forward Colin White off waivers (Pittsburgh) and have placed forward Brandon Gignac on waivers for the purpose of a loan to the Laval Rocket.

I'd rather the lose by 1 goal than get blown out - they played a good game, kept the shots against down, outshot their opponents and ran into a goalie really on his game.
I feel the first line is fine, but as has been discussed around here, with Dach out and Monahan traded, hard to build a decent second line to take some pressure off the first line. The PP has been really good since the ASG, but it is not always going to score - especially when you do not have much on talent the second unit.
Newhook and Roy seem to be clicking, but I see that as more of a real 3rd line in the making.
I am actually impressed with the offence being generated by the D-corps. I hope they can keep up this type of production going forward, but being overal, better defensively (and that goes for the whole team, as well).
I think we can better judge top 6 after the draft... will be interesting to see what HuGo pull off this year - I think expectations are hight with all the picks they have, extra young defensemen, and their track record of pullign trades at the draft.

Makes sense.
Cheap expiring contract, veteran for bottom 6.
Let Ginac help the push in Laval, learn to win down there. In fact, I would not be surprised if they send more players to help out.

I'm just a little baffled we're putting Gignac on waivers 3 weeks after giving him a NHL contract.

He will unlikely be claimed, has to pass to go back down I guess.
White just changes locker rooms and suits sup for tonight's game.
That must be a strange feeling.

Oh, I liked the game, and have no issue with the result. I want them playing to win, but at this point, if they lose please do so in a very close fashion.
The strength of this roster is by far the D group, even as young as it is. They also have some talented D that will be pushing for roster spot next year, so expect a trade at some point that can help with the forwards group. They need centre help, even with Dach healthy. Does Beck make the jump next year?
The draft will give some insight, or it might give some if a trade happens. Would you trade Anderson, or Evans? Which young D goes, or do they trade Savard before TDL....but that is only one spot.
You see the post about Allen's agent implying things are not so happy happy in the goalie room with this three rotation. Time to say good bye to Allen, taking best offer available......
