And if we had kept him, we wouldn't have the team we have now.

It would probably be Tricheck actually, which would be bad

Lavi's take on the Rempe hit:

"Nobody wants to see anybody get hurt, but it's just tough. He's a big guy. He was full steam ahead and kept everything down and tried to go through the body. I'm sure he hit everything, so it's tough. It's a tough call."

The next 3 first rd picks should be on the table. Limit the prospects traded and they should be able to get a decent player or two…

Buch for conditional 2nd this year, a first next year…throw in a B prospect, would you do that? I think it’s something like that he should do tho. He isn’t a rental

- Slimtj100

They wont trade Buch unless the offer blows them away. Its not worth it.

Who would trade the first rders for?

Conditional second this year
First rder next year, or ‘26

We could get a good player for that

If they called 2 min on it, I would’ve been fine with it. But the 5 was ridiculous

No one goes headhunting on purpose, but he took a straight line at him and crushed him right in the head.

Its straight hypocracy because if it was a Rangers player on the other end of a hit like that you wouldnt have the same sentiment.

Probably watching multiple players. It's easy to scout one player, not so much multiple.

He wasn’t head hunting. Bastian had his head down, the elbow was tucked. He went straight through his body, unfortunately his head is part of his body. Look at the Smith hit on Bedard. He broke his damn jaw, and guess what? It was a clean hit with no suspension or fine. Sometimes unfortunately head contact is made, that doesn’t make it a bad hit. I said it the second the Smith hit happened, clean hit. Same as the Rempe hit. U want to call 2 minutes? Fine. It’s not 5.

I just rewatched the hit 15x in slow mo and stopped the play frame by frame. His elbow is glued to his side, he doesn’t extend upward during the hit and Bastian has his head down reaching for the puck infront of him. To say that’s a bad hit is ridiculous

I was at the game tonight and there was an obnoxious noise playing over the speakers when rangers were on the power play. People were getting pissed. Pretty scum bag move, hope the league does something about that.

So let me get this straight...

As long as a players arm is tucked, a player is completely absolved from taking a players head off?

Thats absolutely ridiculous.

Im not lost, when a guy takes a straight line at a guy from 30 feet away and doesnt at any point try to make an effort to adjust his hit... then the one thats lost is you. Everyones excuse is that hes 6'7 and he cant help it. Well he didnt just wake up this morning and became 6'7. Majority of the league is smaller than him, which means he needs to be particularly more responsible with his hits because anything can be at someones head.

Again, if this was a Rangers player, the tone would be completely different, but because its a Devils player, geniuses like you will find some excuse to say that it was a clean hit.

The excuse that it was a clean hit will be when he isn’t suspended. There was nothing wrong with the hit, ur just choosing to die on the wrong hill.

I think this is a bad take by you. Rempe is a big kid doesn’t mean he has to change the way, or be more responsible in the way he plays the game. He shouldn’t have to apologize because other players are smaller than him. Listen it’s an unfortunate hit. Dont think he intended for the hit to be dirty. Big thing for me is he didn’t chicken wing the kid. His elbow was tucked in and followed through. 3/4 of the league is a lot smaller than Rempe. Guy is coming around and lays a hit and makes contact with the head, well because his head happens to line up with his shoulder because of the size differential. I can get down and say ok fine you can give him a 5min major penalty if that’s your interpretation of the play. Is it a match penalty and suspendible play, I don’t necessarily think it is.

I think this is the the debate everyone is having, Penalty, no question, match penalty, depends on interpretation of the rule plus the way Bastian went down and what looked to be an injury may have influenced the call. I can argue both sides of the equation. Rempe needs to be better aware of the situation but Bastian had his head down looking for the puck. The argument that he should have stopped and not him at all doesn't hold that much water to me given the speed of the game and Bastian having his head down.

This is the way I always try to look at it.
I would have been ok with 5 min, because the head was the principle point of contact. But, Rempe kept his elbow down, didn't leave his feet or stride into him and didn't put him into the boards. On top of which Bastian had his head in his feet.
Feel bad for the kid, but the match penalty should lend toward there being no further discipline, at least.

Strange way to look at it when the guy was assessed a major and tossed from the game. It's not like you have anything but your opinion to defend your point with. And I absolutely agree that you would be looking for your torch and pitchfork if one of our guys got trucked like that and no penalty was given.
I'd say you're the one looking to die on a hill here.
