Brio, is that a chain, or legit Italian cuisine?
- Pat1993

it's a chain but a real nice one.

we were just saying today that we've never had anything there that we didn't really like.

Yes you would.

It’s no different than whiskeys, or scotch.

You can taste the difference..

- pete26

I beg to differ, it all depends on the wine, and on the preferences of the person tasting it imho. it isn't because it's double the price that it's two times better...

if you pick 2 decent wines at those prices, I think a lot of people wouldn't be able to tell, if they get it right it's most likely just a lucky guess lol.

I'm no connaisseur either but as far as I'm concerned paying 40$+ for a bottle is rather pointless, why bother paying more when there are cheaper yet still good quality wines available.

- Pat1993

Sort of, but not really.

Wine favourites are usually by the region and your palate.

You can get some really good cab savs and blends outta Napa valley, that’s what I prefer.

I cannot stand Italian wine of any price..

well it's all relative, of course if you're a wine enthusiast you'll want to maybe spend a bit more at times and try out new things, as you develop your own taste. but for someone who only drinks wine very occasionally, I don't think you can automatically differentiate the 20$ bottle from the 30$ one, if both wines are good.

Agreed, that's the way I also look at it.

In the past, I was gifted many expensive bottles of wine as presents but I can't say I enjoyed them more than my usual $15 - $20 bottles.

The only thing I know is that, over the years, I found I have a preference for wines made with the Cabernet Sauvignon variety of grapes. Just sweet and dry enough for my taste.

True.

But I can assure you, if you can tell the difference between a glass of Bodacious and a glass of J’Lor, you should stick to beer..

I'm guessing you meant if you can't tell the difference..? lol

also, there are so many different types of beers available now that you can explore with them and become a beer snob, basically the same way as with wine.

Like I said, the region.

I prefer a cab sav from Napa valley.

Even the cheaper bottles are pretty decent.

But cab savs from other regions just don’t cut it for me, even the expensive ones..

yeah, once you've determined what types you like it makes it way easier to shop for it, just go to the SAQ and look for similar products/from the same region.

Are you saying this honestly or did Vinny (with a crooked nose) told you to say this or you might go sleeping with the fishies?

Asking for a friend.

I used to despise IPAs, but then I realized they can vary a lot taste-wise from one to another. it's been a while since I've had some but there are some very good microbrewries around here as well.

usually when I go camping I'm in "anything goes" mode, but I still tend to snob that brand and a few others as well.

yeah, some are juicy and taste like tangerine or grapefruit or something and others are just straight up hop bomb bitterness. i like both so i get to enjoy most IPAs if they're any good.
