Bottom of the 3rd tier .. good skills, poor hockey IQ. They see him being a call-up but nothing more because of his low IQ.
- jd250

thought i read his IQ was good while back. maybe thinking of someone else

to his credit he has turned himself back into a prospect as before he was DOA.

It's a really good point. What does it say that the Flyers top two prospects are the two players they just drafted? Does not bode well IMO for the players in the third tier and lower. No wonder there is chatter about the Flyers extending Seeler and Walker.
- jd250

In my opinion, the Flyers are at a point where they don't need quantity. They need quality at the top of the lineup. They have good players. They need some great players. Add that to this lineup and they have a chance. Need to weed out the cap anchors such as Ristolainen and Atkinson and stop overpaying for marginal players. Prepare the team's cap position for when/if they're able to get some elite players. They should look to trade Konecny to bolster their chances at getting some potential elite players.

I would rather see Michkov skewing the rankings in a Flyers or Phantoms jersey. I am still very queasy about his situation.
- jd250
When I see him skating on North American ice in an orange and black jersey is when I'll believe that he will be a Flyer. Still skeptical about those damn Russians.

What are you talkin about? This isn't a country club anymore? I was on a Rags blog last night and actually talked to the main blogger. They gave much respect to the Flyguys and I said they aren't getting Laughts unless they give up their first rounder. This isn't a country club anymore. This team plays it's ass off, but you do you.
- Phillywhiteout

wow they gave much respect. I am impressed. Any player that has been here for as long as death stare and wants to stay is a red flag. he is comfortable and complacent. no real pressure to win.

that above has nothing to do with playing your ass off.

Then I mistook your country club comment. Of course Laughts wants to stay here. He's been in Philly 10 years and is rooted here. Can't blame him for that. However, it's a business and management needs to do what is best for the team and I'm sure he understands that.

Laughton needs to take his talent and rainbow tape elsewhere. The Flyers have so much of Laughton in their lineup. We saw it first hand yesterday, the Flyers have good players that play hard but very few that can actually score a goal in a game like that. Frost misses an open net, Farabee does not even get a shot on a break-away, Sanheim muffs a 2 on 0, Couts hits the post. They need to part with some of these players and keep drafting and hopefully hit on a player like Aho in the 2nd round, or TK late in the first, or Kucherov in the 3rd round. The Flyers are not going to win with this group no matter how hard they play. Tippet, TK, Poehling, Foerster and Couts are the group you build around now.
- jd250

Poehling is a role player and on a really good team is a 4th line center. Not a player that you build around. Konecny is a player the Flyers should look to trade. Tippet and Foerster are good players but not elite. Elite players are who you build around. The players who the Flyers have are secondary players.

It sounds as if they can get a first rounder for him and if that's the case I think they have to move him.

flyers apparently have been heavily scouting the Manitoba moose recently.

hopefully not Ville Heinola as a main piece.

they can get a 1st imo in the 22-32 range. I pull the trigger very easily.

Maybe a similarly ranked prospect who is closer to the NHL. Either way they need assets so then maybe just maybe you flip to acquire the elite level player/s you need.

I read it this morning.....if the Flyers are 6th with that slop, I cant imagine how bad the 20+ teams below them are or where they'd be without Michkov
- THE BLACK HAND

They didn’t list Alex Bump who as a freshman at Western Michigan is almost at a point a game after a tough start…Hunter Macdonald, the big D from Northeastern is also high up on the the Flyers radar as they seem to always mention this guy. He got no mention either. I think the system does have some very good prospects beyond MM…

May also have a lot to do with how things playout between now and the TDL. If they go belly up, and lose all the games between now and then perhaps they go into full fire sale mode.

Could talk of extending both guys some how be related to their trade value? Hmmm.

this is one reason why I want them to still win and be in the playoffs come the deadline.

I want to see what danny boy is made of and see if he ca make the "hard" decisions. If they fall out his job gets rather easy. In theory anyway.

I’m confused. Are you saying you he’s comfortable and complacent, but he doesn’t play that way? If he “plays his ass off”where’s the complacency come in?

The Flyers right now are in excellent position to make the playoffs. In my opinion, the Devils have to make some kind of move that bolsters their lineup. Whether that is a goalie or a defenseman. If not, they're not going to catch the Flyers. 5 points is a significant lead at this point in the season. The Flyers could go into a slump but with the way they play, that doesn't seem likely. The fly in the ointment is what do the Flyers do with the deadline and who they trade. The Flyers then could see a downturn in play due to trading some players away.

If a player in their late 20’s or up, with a wife and kids signs a long term contract with a no movement, it means just that. They want stability for themselves and their family. Up rooting your family is a hassle. Winning may come second to that.

“Captain Comfortable” asked to be traded to Florida to win. That fell through. After that he chose to go home.

I know what you were saying.they hype up guys all the time as i tis their job and I get it.

just that in 2024 it is hard as you can watch or see players 100% more than in years past. Cant fool them all anymore!!!
