he has been here what 11 years and doesn't want to move. Is that complacent?

Wait, what? Are we talking about how he plays and prepares for games? Isn’t this the same guy that hard ass Torts determined was the only guy on the team qualified to wear a letter on his jersey?

They did not say that he will be nothing more than a call up.

Everything I have read and heard on Samu is that they were high on him when they drafted him and rushed him to NA when he wasn't ready. He went back to Europe and regained his confidense and game. He was brought back to the Phantoms for this year and has performed as expected. They are high on him, and don't want to mess with his progress, which is why I doubt he will be called up at all this year.

They still have high hopes he can be a middle six forward who contributes, and aren't willing to rush him at all.

It seems to me that if we didnt have Michkov the Flyers would be ranked in the mid to late tee. Is he THAT good? I hope so.

This team has no top line top pair prospects besides Michkov. They are loaded with middle six/bottom six forwards and plenty of middle to 3rd pair prospects. Every team needs quality young players in those spots, but they need to be playing in those spots, not masquerading as top line talents. They need a miracle like Braydon Point or Shea Weber in the later rounds, or even with their late 1sts.

They will probably have to break the bank at some point to fill those top line positions.

When you look at Farabee, Tippett, Frost, Sanheim, York, Drysdale, all good players. Maybe some of them can be top pair or top line playing with elite players but by themselves on their own merit, they're not that level. That is what this team needs to take the next step. How do they get that now that they're a playoff level team? The miracle you refer to? Not likely. First step that presents itself is to trade the players referenced repeatedly. Then they should look to trade Konecny if they can find the right deal. If not, same as they've always been. Bubble and below unless they get some of those miracles.

The Flyers right now are in excellent position to make the playoffs. In my opinion, the Devils have to make some kind of move that bolsters their lineup. Whether that is a goalie or a defenseman. If not, they're not going to catch the Flyers. 5 points is a significant lead at this point in the season. The Flyers could go into a slump but with the way they play, that doesn't seem likely. The fly in the ointment is what do the Flyers do with the deadline and who they trade. The Flyers then could see a downturn in play due to trading some players away.

With injuries being the wild card as always. This team as it's built will not be able to sustain this level of play if the nagging injuries continue to pile up.

From the article:

But when he lacks confidence and he goes hero mode, it can be tough to watch. I have concerns about his processing power (i.e., his choices with the puck under duress). It has been nice to see him rebuild his confidence toward more consistency though. I’m still not sure whether there’s a natural role for him in an NHL lineup long term, but he’s probably going to play games.

To me this implies a call-up layer.

I'm just not there with trading TK. I understand why you and others would want to trade him, his value would certainly never be higher. But TK to me is the face of this team, not only now, but in the years to come. He is definitely a player you build around. He is just coming into his prime years, he is an all-star, and all around great player. I agree the Flyers need top line forwards and a top pairing defenseman, but you are not going to get either trading TK, just more lottery tickets. I would trade Laughton, Farabee, Frost, Sanheim, etc to get assets that might land the Flyers a 1C or 1D.

You misread it as always. From a simple basic standpoint, a player who is nothing more than a call up is not going to make the top prospect list. A player who is just going to be an occasional call up is not a prospect.

Konecny is a pretty good player but he is not a player you build around. You build around elite players. Konecny is not on that level. Konecny is not a player you use the adjective great to describe. He is the face of the franchise that is just a playoff team. What does that get you? Most likely, not much. None of the players you listed will likely get the Flyers a 1C or 1D. Konecny is not likely to either but he is their best chip. Everything you posted is wrong in my opinion.

So TK won't get the 1c or 1d, but Frost will?

Gotcha..
