Ah man I'm sorry, my grand-ma had it and she lived for 13 years with severe dementia where she didn't recognize anybody, last 3 tied to her bed because she broke her hip falling and she didn't remember she could'nt walk anymore.

It’s hard to deal with what’s real and not real right now…was on the phone with her and she was telling me that she had just finished her laundry…you could hear the hospital noises in the background

Went through that with my grandma (and fully expect to do the same with my mom).

I remember calling her, she did not know who I was when I said "Steve" (which is what she mostly called me all my life), and then I said I was her grandson, and she said "I do not have a grandson named 'Steve', only one named 'Stephen'".

She quickly hung up and had my number blocked.

There were crazy days, but also good days too, when she seemed mostly with it.

I was glad I moved back to Montreal and got to spend the last few years with her (and my grandfather), even if it was rough at times.

Went through that with my grandma (and fully expect to do the same with my mom).
