And the word is clearly out on this team. Blitz them with everything you have right away and you'll score one or two in the first five minutes. Then it's game over. Oh and then when the sens dominate the next 20 minutes or so (and they did) their players can't score (and they didn't)
Norris snorris. Should have traded him before tonight. Now you can't. In fact who wants our dog poop now. Staois selling from a low position...he's gonna get fleeced on Batherson probably. |

Guess these guys don't quite understand SS has no allegiance to the current roster?
Aside from Brady, I can see any of them getting moved before Oct.

The hypothetical about the Sens being a playoff team this season was posted and it seems like the Sens were like, "hold my beer", immediately afterward.... - GrimmdaGoalie

Moving one of the LD makes sense only if they get a RD of a certain age in return. If you are trading Chabot or Chychrun, you need to get those in return. So you need to find a team that needs a LD and has a glut of RD (which somehow seem more valuable these days??)
Chychrun, Forsberg and something for Brandt Clarke, Rittich and a salary dump?
You got to figure moving Chychrun has to get back almost what we spent to get him? so a first and something, or a player worth a first.
Personally, I would like to seem them go get DeMelo and Matt Roy in the offseason.
Just by getting rid of Hamonic and Brannstrom they would improve the D.
Seems like Norris is snake bit. Good thing he got his $$$ while he did. Thanks Dorion!

I am thinking Korpisalo needs the Samsonov "reset" treatment. That seems like a decent way to go these days. |

Hard no. For what he does, and what he means to this team, Brady is a bargain. And a very unique player in the league. You will never get fair value back from him.
And Zub is our ONLY RD at this point. When he is out of lineup, you can notice

I have to laugh at a lot of the trade offers people are sending the Senator's direction. Just because we are having a poor/bad year doesn't mean we are willing to get fleeced on a trade. We don't want your junk or first round draft pick in the high the 20's. |

Fun stat from Daniel Amoia's Twitter:
The Devils have given up the first goal 43 times in 59 games. That ties the WORST mark through 59 games in NHL history - they now share it with the 1992 Ottawa Senators. That team went 10-70-4..."
Devils have been decimated by injuries this year but that's a crazy stat. GO OTTAWA! |

Can we contemplate a buyout of the Korpisalo contract?
It would cost the team around $10.6 million over 8 years but have overall savings of $5.3 million total.
8 year buyout at a cap hit of
333,000 - 625,000 for Colin White
833,333 + 875,000 for Colin White
1,833,333 + 875,000 for Colin White
2,833,333 + 875,000 for colin White
1,333,333
1,333,333
1,333,333
1,333,333
Is this something we want to contemplate? All this to start to undo the mistakes of Dorion.
In retrospect, giving Dorion the keys to the "car" with very little checks and balances was/is a costly mistake. It may take another 2-3 years to dig out of some of this unless Staois et al can make some perfect trades. |

It's not doomsday, but they need to make a couple of long-overdue roster moves, and actually start addressing the team's weaknesses. The obvious "big" move at this point is to trade Chychrun... who can play big minutes as long as he has quality RHD insulation, but that's just not happening in OTT. I'd also trade Brannstrom, because it's more than overdue for them to part ways... especially given that Kleven is precisely the kind of 3rd pairing D-man they need. And as much as the Norris injury is unfortunate, they're arguably more balanced and competitive with Pinto/Grieg playing the 2C/3C positions. Scoring isn't the team's problem, it's tenacity, speed, and defensive awareness.
One young player I'd really like to see them go after is Fabian Lysell, who's playing with the Bruins' AHL affiliate. I was very big on him at the 2021 draft, and in addition to being lightning fast he played really well on the Vancouver Giants' top-line along with Zack Ostapchuk. That has the makings of a great future 3rd line, not to mention that Lysell is already putting up near PPG numbers in the AHL. Wonder if it might be a possibility, if the Bruins were to make a bigger trade involving Ullmark, and then wanted something like Tarasenko/Forsberg to further bolster the roster? |

You know what bothers me about stat pages and capfriendly type websites? Goalie stats. I don't give a CRAP about save % I want to see WINS IN A SEASON. The only consistent thing is that these sites never provide that stat. I also don't give a frick about GAA....can the man win hockey games. Is he a winner or a loser.
Korpisalo for Jack Campbell straight up? Change of scenery for both. Comparable deals. Each of them have some kind of modified trade thingy...just a thought |

Re: Buyout of Korpo:
Not this year but if the trend continues next year, definitely. You got to give him some time with better coaching and better RD. But an option. And who knows...the Kings might get desperate and they love him
Re: Tarasenko trade offers:
He's worth a 2nd without any salary retention. With 25%....a 2nd and 4th. With 50%...a 2nd and prospect or 2nd and conditional 3rd...or dare I say a first.
Re: Campbell
could be the most untradeable contract in the NHL right now. Would cost EDM 2 1sts to get rid of him. So Forsberg, Hamonic and Kubalik for Campbell, Bromberg and a 1st is doable. |

Your deal is way better than mine.
And I agree on the Tarasenko thing. We are not keeping money. If you want him pay up, or we'll hold on to him on principle and try and resign him. Hamonic would need to waive to go to Edmonton, but he probaly would.

Norris out for "extended period of time". No word on what the injury is.
Hamonic out for a week or two.
Throw Norris on LTIR.
Good time to bring up Klevin or Guenette.
Maybe bring up Crookshank as well.
Hopefully Ottawa is thinking of bringing up Orange Pilon to play some games in the net. Either that or buy our current goalies some eye glasses to see longer distance shots. |

Is Campbell’s contract actually worse than Korpisalo’s though?
Campbell has a slightly higher AAV ($5M vs $4M), but he’s also got less term remaining
The numbers are eerily similar:
Korpisalo (this year) - 0.887 SV%, 3.41 GAA
Campbell (last year) - 0.888 SV%, 3.41 GAA
*JC has only played 5 games this year
And you could argue Norris’s contract is worse than both of them

I'm open to adding Jakob Chychrun and Matt Roy (with a 6-7 year extension for Sens) |

So Ottawa adds Detroit’s 1st rd pick to two of the five worst contracts in the league, and that somehow nets them Timo Meier and Kahkonen?

Josh Norris' contract is not one of the worst contracts in the league - it's his health! I actually think he should go to SJ for Hertl in a package. They originally drafted him, they don't need Hertl
(also I think you wrote Meier ) |

Stick to your Ottawa and Winnipeg trade idea. That is actually not bad .... maybe Ottawa throws in Brannstrom in case Tarasenko does not resign. I like the idea of adding Brad Lambert ... pretty decent prospect but not one of Winnipegs top so they may be willing to part with him. Tarasenko would be a good addition to Winnipeg. Toss in Brannstrom for some playoff defensive depth as needed.
Your SJ, LAK, Senators trade .... too much junky parts being moved around. |
