Blame Kravtsov for sucking.
- Fenrir

Not only that but imagine the team w/o Trocheck because that’s probably who we don’t have. The covid cap freeze probably hurt the chances of keeping him even more.

What hurts is the return but that’s also a bit of a faulty argument too because teams had Drury by the balls, and knew it. Blais tore his knee and he ended up sucking and never getting whatever speed he had back. He was a very good forechecker if I recall on StL. There are mitigating factors there too

And Jimmy is right, they’ve barely missed a beat without him quite frankly.

Let’s just get him and forget it all happen (for most people)

I get the fascination with Buch on this board, but I can't imagine we are anywhere close to getting him at the Blues current asking price. At least if we did and Drury paid that price, I'd be pissed. Having Buch vs Vatrano or some other RW guarantees us nothing, and costs way more. Put the history of the player and org aside, it just isn't our best option.

I love Buchy and hated it when he was traded but his Cap hit is way to high for this team. We are already very top heavy. Id rather them concentrate on the third line Center spot and evaluate if JBrod is really the guy going forward.

Sometimes the best deals are the ones you dont make.

I am extremely skeptical St Louis would be willing to retain money on a trade and I think they could successfully trade him somewhere else and not retain anything rather easily if they wanted to

The rumor is two firsts, if they could retain close to two million we could get one more guy, but probably costs another pick and decent prospect.

If they had two dynamic top 6 lines and two bigger bottom 6 lines that’s a tough match up for teams.

Complacency gets you just far enough to lose my man. In 3 years you’ll be saying the same thing. This team is ready for lift off, either get on board or don’t, but it’s time to sell some futures

If it was just this year I can see them doing it but not for next season also, It will definitely cost more.

Really depends on the amount retained. I did it with 800k retained, so 5 mill on our cap, and it works that way. That’s it tho, we can’t get anyone else. So it comes down to who do you want more Chris, a center or RW. And center seems to have rectified itself more then RW has. Unless they trade miller or Kakko but that just causes holes elsewhere.

Based on the rumors of what stl wants..we could probably get him for

1st rder

Conditional 2nd rder (ECF appearance jumps to a first)

3rd rder for two years of retainment

And a prospect (ie -Berard or Sykora)

Imo it’s time to not worry about futures. I realize the other side and get it, but the opportunity is staring us in the face to take the cup home if we grow some balls

You keep saying if we grow some balls, thats just ridiculous to say. They have to make the right deal for the team, just because we trade for someone doesnt ensure the Cup, take last year for instance. It has to be a smart trade not a trade to show our balls.

Jumping out of an airplane with no parachute takes balls but would you be the guy who does it??

I’m talking about trading assets and not being afraid to do it. Yes for the right guy. Because can afford to do it with guys/kids here already and more on the way. We won’t feel the loss of those assets like some other teams will

You get a guy not rental is a start

I will try n shut my whore mouth, but I wonder if they will even buy him out. I think the only way I accept it is if they win the cup.

right now i don't care. im not putting any effort into thinking about this team w/ 21 either not on it or scratched. He'll be playing those playoffs games, how well he plays them is another story.

offseason comes and yeah it's time for that conversation.

that isn't gonna bother me, it's re-litigating the original Buch trade that's annoying as hell
