So point being there is no market for EK or to create one Pens would have to eat salary or add assets. He is not bringing a return as poster suggested he would. On the other hand if Fox was put on the market he would bring a large return. Not shy on EK just stating at his age..his salary..he has no market. Guy is a future HOF but his best days are behind him. - hfc355
There is no market because there's no cap space and that's the only reason. You're absolutely wet in the head if you think no teams would want a reigning Norris 100 point season right handed shot can play 25 mins a night playing arguably the best defense or his career defenseman.
That's a really bold (sarcasm) prediction stating his best days are behind him after the season he just had hahaha...only the 6th defenseman in NHL history to hit 100 or more.. That season only finished up less than 10 months ago haha |

Are the Pens even allowed to trade either their 2024 or 2025 1st round picks due to the Karlsson trade conditions and not knowing which year it’ll be?
With the team against the cap and no quality picks/prospects, how can you even make the team better? Trade Jake for the best deal and do another “retooling” next free agency? |

They probably can't. I think their only real hope is if their young players give them a major push that quite frankly isn't expected. Or some of their positive regression candidates like Rackell or jus the PP have a huge bounce back. Hit big on free agency. But there is not a lot they can do to really improve the team on paper. |

I have watched some Vancouver games this season. They simply outwork teams and they're outworking the Pens tonight, so far.
Both goals were the result of hard work. The first was a result of them just wanting to score a goal more than the Pens wanting to prevent one. The second Blueger drew a penalty by outhustling three Penguins down the ice.
Nothing fancy about this team. But I wouldn't expect anything less from a Rick Tocchet coached team. |

Pretty much. They’re definitely out working the Pens.
I wish this coaching staff could alter their approach when the see another team being aggressive and pinching. But is just more of the same. Chasing pucks and firing it up the boards to their D. |

Unbelievable. They work hard to get back into this and basically just give one away. |

They could trade with inverse terms to their top 10 protection. |

4th line is getting caved. Can't wait to see what Carter will look like now that they'll be playing every other night.

Carter is done. I'm sure Dubas has talked to him and asked if he wants another run at the Cup.
Two things have to happen; one, somebody has to want him and two, Carter has to want leave.

He’s not able to play at this pace. Time to start “resting” him.

Much better period from the Pens, especially the first ten minutes. The shorty took some life out of them.
Puustinen has been the best of the four youngsters getting there shot tonight. He could have two maybe three goals tonight. He seems to get into open space.
The Eller had one tremendous shift. Other than that I haven't noticed them. That isn't a bad thing. There's been quite a bit of special teams play tonight. |

Puus just needs his hands to catch up. He’s flying and has improved the forecheck on the 2nd line quite a bit. |

I think he's definitely an asset. I hope Sullivan doesn't give up on him. As you say, if his hands catch up to the speed of the game, he can be a 20+ goal scorer.

Certainly looks like Smith wants out of here. I'll be surprised if he makes it back to the 'burgh.

At minimum, he's earned a jersey the rest of the season.
