Cale Makar in his rookie year, the only season he played without Toews (before he was traded to Colorado)
19/20'
Regular season: 57gp, 50 points
Playoffs: 15 gp 15 points
With Toews:
20/21'
Regular season: 44gp 44 points
Playoffs: 10gp 10 points
Every season since then, Makar has had more points than games played. Toews helped, no question about it, Makar was elite before him. - washedup20
Dahlin up until getting cross checked into a crossbar in Florida last year was arguably the Norris Favourite playing with Samuelsson.
The past two months Dahlin-Joker have been one of the most effective d-pairings in the league.
If you want to argue that Dahlin isn’t a top 5 d-man or not then I’m not going to die on a hill either way.
He’s absolutely a top 10 guy though. |

|
I will say this on Dahlin
he was labeled the best d man since bobby orr when he was drafted
he is much closer to phil housley than orr with housley being a much better skater - homiedclown
He's a #1 dman in this league but he's not elite. That's reserved for Makar and Hughes |

Dahlin's stats are a bit higher because the sabres are not a deep team and lean on him
where does a guy like Pietrangelo or Theodore rank or the 4 guys on the canes rank because they are not leaned on due to being on decent teams
Then you have much better all around d men who put up similar points like Hedman and Josi
Dobson?
Fox?
Morrissey?
or the hall of famers like Letang and Karlsson
Hughes
Makar
all I can say is right now dahlin is not the best young d man since bobby orr

I think joker gets moved at the deadline ?
Will the Sabres commit past this season after scratching him healthy for part of the season.
Now joker looks great on the top pairing

I mean yeah in a perfect world he’s not playing more than 25 minutes a night.
The fact he’s played 7 straight games of 29 minutes + and was great in almost all of them says a lot. |

I think Joker is a fine depth d-man.
Problem is you gave Clifton term and have Ryan Johnson and Samuelsson already in the fold.
I don’t think he is a top pairing guy, but the fact that he fits well with Dahlin says a lot about him.
If they keep him, that’s great. RHD are a dime a dozen.
If they trade him, I understand it also if you are upgrading the top end of the d-core.

Yeah, I just can’t believe they tried to keep such a small amount of money. I can live with them not approving me, I can keep looking.
They said I was good, told me to buy insurance - which I did - then next day were like we need a little more from you. I said no deal then.
Insurance company gave me my money back in 2 days, no problem.
These guys are legitimately stealing from me. They don’t even have a signature for the transaction like what are they doing? - Jet Jaguar BD
Yeah that's just outrageous, especially without any signed agreement. I can see, if one was signed, they'd try to drag their feet but I'd assume with the agreement changing they never had a leg to stand on there. |

I'd like to see some offers from sens fans and get an idea of how much they overvalue a player who wants out (allegedly)
Young players that already contribute with upside who are cost controlled are valuable. If its tage going the other way its a 1st round pick and a prospect probably not named kulich. I do believe tage is more of who he was last year than this year
Maybe I'm undervaluing tkachuk. I just don't think its some 3 or 4 for 1 that includes two young roster players. Depending on who the main piece is of course - ieetbred
Who knows what the real trade value is... Only the 2 GMs who agree to it.
His brother, a better player production wise (0.95 to 0.75 ppg so far) also playing on a better team... He drew a 1LW, 1RhD, Prospect, Conditional 1st.
-Is Tage really a 1C or a 1W and is no where near the production of Hubie
- Is Quinn in the same park as Weager?, I'd say certainly not yet.. especially injury issues
- Sabres 22014-1st is better than 1 year out Panters 1st---so maybe it becomes a 2015 1st
I don't think that deal is very far off... And fans when approached on a deal generally are bombastic with their over valuing players vs reality.

The foundation of these arguments is based off of these guys playing for an embarrassment of an organization.
I don't think anyone is blaming Dahlin for the situation the Sabres are in, merely pointing out that he is not what he is being sold as. I don't believe he will ever become an elite player in Buffalo...he might elsewhere. |

Sabres coach Don Granato was fined $25,000 for "unprofessional conduct at the officials" that resulted in a bench minor Tuesday in Florida.
The NHL announced the fine right after Granato was done speaking to reporters. |

Dustin Tokarski was recalled as a precaution because an illness has swept through the Sabres' room, said Don Granato.
UPL was the first goal off the ice. Didn't seem to be limited. |

His play last year lead to a $11M per year contract which was stipulated as “market value”.
I’d say that is elite.

Remember ripping into the Sabres here about how they were killing him. Remember you getting mad at Me cause I said Trade him if you aren't gonna get him his Mentor. Thank God they didn't listen about the trade. |
