We sure won a lot of Cups and championships with him in net ... while ignoring to build a potent centerline for YEARS.

Funny how outlooks change with (what seems) like competent management.
Could you imagine a full rebuild with any of the management teams from the 25 years before this one?
a thing of nightmares.

When you've seen this team win a ton of Cups playing an offensive style, it was traumatic to see them revert to a boring style. |

yeah, a rebuild was an unthinkable concept back then, and not all that necessary up until recently. now with the number of teams it makes it very difficult to remain in the top tier for years without having to at least "retool" and rely on quality draft picks to keep things going.

I'm happy, Molson finally had the guts to do a real rebuild and clean house completely ... not a moment too soon IMO.
I just wish he had come to this decision a lot sooner.
Yes it sucks losing night after night at this time but at least we're progressing towards something that looks promising ... I'll take hope over the futility of being stuck in the No Man Zone (bubble team) for 30 years. |

And the approach of "Just squeak into the playoffs and see what happens". Where as back in the day it was Stanley Cup or NOTHING!

I really do not blame him, per se. He was obviously a company "yes man", who came over from the beer division, and was put into an unwinnable position.
Then you throw an incompetent Tremblay in the mix, and that made it worse.
The real idiot was Ronald Corey, he created the whole mess and deserves 100% of the blame.

The decision had to come with a complete management restructure.
Like I said earlier, imagine MB trying to do this... |
