It would be great if the flyers can sell off some assets for solid returns and still sneak into the playoffs to give us a couple extra weeks of hockey. - funmaster18
LOL, he'll be an RFA and he'll have zero leverage. He's not going anywhere at that point unless Columbus wants to move him. The odds of that are nil. - MJL
It seems like Fantilli is and will be untouchable for the near future. I suppose anything can happen, but even if the stars align so that he either wants out or Columbus is willing to trade him, seems unlikely he’d be traded within the Metro.
I love it that you know this for sure. Tell me, what player wants to play in Columbus? Would Fantilli be the first player wanting out of there? But you know for sure the odds are zero? The players always have leverage, as you should have learned from the Quitter situation. But you know for sure. For me, I hope Fantilli wants out because he is a Flyer IMO. - jd250
I love it that you're again showing how clueless you are. I love it that you can't read. As I obviously said that the only way logically that Columbus would move Fantilli is if they, meaning Columbus, wanted to move him, as he'll be an RFA with no leverage.
I love it that you don't know the simple difference between the Gauthier situation and that situation.
You hope he wants out because you live in fantasy land.

Of course, he is a building block of their future along with Jiracek. I was just hoping Fantilli does not want to sign an extension after his ELC and Columbus decides to trade him, I really like the way the kid plays.

Of course but with other teams nipping at their heals and how important a Scott Laughton, a Sean Walker or a Nick Seeler have been, I think you can only choose one or the other. Playoffs or sell. I said it before and I’ll say it again. You need depth on defense, especially in the playoffs.
yes they should have let him burn a year as that is the cost of doing business. It is done all the time. - hello it's me 2050
It is done all the time if the player is ready for pro, but its also not done all the time if they think the player needs more development and needs another year

Depends on the returns. With all the smoke around the Flyers and Jets, I would expect Nate Schmidt is part of the return. He’s defense depth. No real need to trade Staal either since they would be getting a 5th at best. Same with Laughton or Frost if they get a center back.

He would be a major piece for the Flyers and if available I’d hope that Briere would make a hard push for him.
I can see Briere taking a run at Necas over the summer. CAR has 4 players under contract making over 7 million. Jarvis will also be a RFA in the summer. Slavin will be a UFA next summer- current cap hit 5.3 million. No idea what trade would look like, but believe it is certainly possible.

Players seem to actually enjoy living and working in Columbus tho.
And they've got a lot of really good players around his age.

Doubt cap space would be the reason why they'd move Necas. They seem to just pay whatever's necessary to keep core pieces and then find useful castoffs from other teams to fill in the gaps.
If they do move him it's because he's still kind of a mess defensively. Otherwise, he's a core piece.

Well, it depends how big the core is. I would assume Slavin gets extended. What do they do with Jarvis? Bridge deal? Aho is making 10 million/yr. How much s Necas worth? 8 million? I'm not suggesting Necas can be acquired just for picks. Any trade would have to involve good , young NHL players already playing in the NHL. And the Flyers have those. And as you have mentioned, CAR is built on forecheck and shot suppression, which Necas does not appear to fit.
Has a team ever traded an RFA who was both impactful and a Top 5 pick? The closest I could think of was Seguin, but he wasn't an RFA at the time and had perceived work-ethic issues. And we see how that turned out for Boston. Though, in their defense, he really wasn't needed at the time.

Necas probably isn't gonna pry $8M AAV out of them as an RFA. Maybe something south of Svechnikov.
Jarvis is coming off his ELC. He doesn't have as much leverage. I could see him getting something in the ballpark of the Tippett contract.
No extension talks w/ Walker. Seeler wants 4-years at $3M+. - Tomahawk
I hope Seeler gets that contract because when you lead the league in blocked shots- a lot of physical pain endurded. I just hope the Flyers are not the team that gives him that contract.
