Wasn't just that, even when NP was in the lineup he wasn't very good outside of a few brief stretches. Just a ton of pre-draft hype and almost none of it materialized into NHL production. - Tomahawk
I think that had a lot to do with that. He was scared to engage. Playing tentatively. I have no doubt that without the head issues, he would've been a solid NHL player. Maybe not reached the hype of a 2nd overall, but he would've been a good player.

The question is did Cutter put the Flyers in a bad position or did the ineptitude of the front office do it. I still cant get over the fact the kid said when he was drafted he was born to be a Flyer. I dont think he changed his mind on a whim they screwed something up. - hfc355
The Flyers refused to sign him to an ELC and burning off the first year when he wanted to sign after his NCAA season was over in March of 23.

Yeah, he stayed on the perimeter (where his release wasn't good enough to score from distance) and he didn't get in front of the net enough to take advantage of his good hands.
But he was also just slow footed and behind the play a lot on both sides of the puck.
But pre-draft everybody just saw him as a complete, can't miss player. The same stuff we're hearing about Cutter now. Cutter's warts will be painfully obvious once he breaks into the league... he's got a few big ones.

Cutter could turn into something great. Or he could go the way of James van Riemsdyk. It's far too early to be declaring any wins in the trade from that side.
As of right now the Flyers are winning b/c Drysdale is at least in the NHL playing games (well not now haha). - Tomahawk
Fixed!
I’m with you. The crying today is unbelievable. We’ve been healthy most of the season. poop happens.
I still have faith we’ll make it, even if we slide into the last wild card. I actually had them winning only two games this month based on the schedule with a healthy roster. This team has surpassed my expectations for February. |

All but the sure fire elite have warts. Reports I read is that Gauthier's game is growing. Showing that he can do more than just score goals. He boosted his value in the WJC. We'll see how he translates to the NHL.

Not to ruin everyone's weekend on a Tuesday, but guess who has a back to back Friday/Saturday?
Petersen warning in effect until further notice.

Patrick was a fluke but yes career threatening injury to Cutter could change things : ) |

the winning more than expected this year was nice, but to be honest i'd rather see them struggle a bit and miss, instead of holding on to players like walker and seeler with false hope. take the assets and move forward.

His first two seasons were fine for a 19/20 year old on a mediocre team.

I highly doubt Gauthier will be out of the league at age 25 outside of suffering major injury issues. |

FWIW, While i dont necessary disagree; the problem is that it may actually be easier to make it as a 3rd place team than as a WC... Detroit with Kane is now coming on strong, and TB is getting hot -- a Win tonight agsinst the Bolts could go a long way -- I felt quite a bit more confident when the games in hand didn't put the trailing teams into a slot... but now they either are, or are tying Flyers, or right up their butts, and some of the teams are winning much of them now. As long as the Flyers don't go into a tailspin, and have a long losing Streak, they can hang on... they must however play .500 minimum with their rivals over the remainder of the season. What concerns me now is the injuries, which were not a problems before, are suddenly mounting up, and of concern... especially when one of then is TK, and other key players are playing banged up... such as Coots. While being in competitive action does help the young players, it would be so much better to reach the postseason... since they'll get a poor selection by barely missing the playoffs. Torts must coach his butt off from here on out... and put aside some of his long-term aimed mind-games, IMO. |

Konecny missing a third straight crucial game getting injured in practice.
Couturier on the 4th line? Atkinson back in the doghouse.
This Gauthier/Drysdale trade is going to be looked back on as a complete and utter disaster for years to come. - PLindbergh31
i don't regret the drysdale trade it's more of a reflection of gauthier's maturity |

Brink’s back in? Gotta admit I’m pretty amused by this lineup. Torts is freaking wack job. Gives you a pretty good idea of who the coach thought showed up Sunday. Can’t really say I disagree with him there. - Dkos
this line up is a soft tank/showcase for the TDL
it's pretty telling what's going on |

What else does his maintenance days tell you?... Coming off two back surgeries, and almost two years missed, plus much TOI earlier this season IMO is a good indication that he is not 100%... in other words, banged up. Besides that, in all seasons many players play banged up in every team; it's a well known fact.
What facts do you have that could suggest otherwise... considering his great and sudden drop-off in play? |

drysdale when he was in there looked like ghost-lite. thats our blue chipper? Every anaheim fan liked him must be so nice living in disneyland - Just5
ghost is a consistent - player throughout his career
Drysale is only 21 with injuries hitting him
I'd just shut him down for the rest of the year and let him get 100% for next season and get more acclimated to our system. |

I'll be in attendance Friday night. BC vs. UNH. I'm excited to see Cutter play. It would have been better if he was still Flyers property, but alas. |

The Flyers refused to sign him to an ELC and burning off the first year when he wanted to sign after his NCAA season was over in March of 23. - MJL
The Flyers did want to sign him and were prepared to sign him when they met in May of 2023. The player at that time informed the Flyers he did not want to play for them, for such petty reasons as 1. He wanted to play meaningless NHL games at the end of last season and 2. wanted a guaranteed spot on the roster this year. If you think the Flyers or any NHL team should bend over backwards for a prospect then you are a fool. Quitter on draft day stated he wanted to play a year in college and then join the Flyers the following season. It was all set up for him to do that but then he refused to sign an ELC. This is 100% on Quitter .. and I know Karma will even things out. |
