The flyers should be calling up Ginning. He is looking to go back to Sweden then get him in NHL games and see if he has a change of heart.
If Walker gets traded then you need a dman. If Seeler does not get signed then the flyers options are slim. |

I wouldn't. But Vancouver would. - MBFlyerfan
I don't know if Vancouver would but I would seriously think about it if I was the Flyers. If they're not going to go all in on a rebuld, then if they could make that trade. They should pull the trigger.

For me, Michkov is a non starter. I would however consider both 2024 1st round picks and another player like Frost and probably Bonk.

I don't believe we could honestly think we would "win" the Cutter/Drysdale trade. Just two different plays/projections. Cutter may end up being a high-end sniper and Drysdale will be a solid 2nd pair D (maybe 1st pair). Either way you slice it, we were going to "lose" the trade. Our biggest hole right now is a guy that can put the puck in the net consistently. Cutter may end up as a 25-30 goal scorer. Even if Drysdale gets 1st pair minutes, it's not an even comparison. IMO. Cutter put us in a bad situation. DB made the best out of it. Strong return, just slim chance we end up "winning" the trade. - cdearth23
DB made the best out of a bad situation that he himself created. Next time Danny, when someone wants to sign with your poop organization, do it! |

Can't blame Seeler trying to maximize the value of this extension. Pretty sure this will be the last multi year extension he signs. This is the litmus test for Briere. Do not over pay for 3rd pair Dmen because of the impact of the locker room. Let's see if Briere learned from the failure of the Laughton extension. |

I understood that but not for me. First of all, the desperate needs of this team are a 1C and a 1D. I'm assuming Michkov is going to play the wing. Pettersson is a legit 25 year old elite #1 center. The Flyers are getting ready to re-sign a soon to be 27 year old Travis Konecny to a 8 year 9M or so deal potentially. They have Foerster, Farabee and Tippett at wing. If they're not going to go all in on a rebuild and trade a player like Konecny and others. Then in that situation, if they can trade Michkov, a 1st and another prospect for Pettersson, that's the move to make if it's available. I want the Flyers to completely rebuild but that's not going to happen. In the alternative, if that move is available, they should make it. |

I'm curious, would you have rather not seen Tippett extended? Would you have traded him in a similiar package that brought him here in the G trade?

I have a few thoughts. I would've liked to see him get less term, but, that is what teams have to do. Make the right calls on younger players, take a risk in order to get cap bargains down the line. I love Tippett's ability to skate and drive the net and that he shoots the puck. However, the rest of his game other than that, is pretty suspect. So I don't see it as a sure bet with the 8 years. Goal scorers get paid and he scores goals. The Flyers are starved for young offensive talent. Hope that answers your questions

Appreciate the answer. The discussion of the rebuild has many factors. Just curious how the Tippett extension fit into the rebuild. I'll answer my own question. I would have done the extension. Agreed not thrilled on the term, but that is the cost of doing business. At least, Tippett will be 33 in the last year of the contract. I believe Tippett will be a consistent 20.goal scorer, a few 30 goal seasons, and may even flirt with a 40 goal season during this extension assuming decent health. With the increase of the cap in the coming years, his cap hit will not be bad based up on his projected scoring production.

Literally the best in the league at it right now…
If we had guys in the AHL who could do what Seeler can already do, I guarantee they’d already be here. If they had these guys the Flyers don’t trade for Drysdale and we don’t sign Staal. Louie Belpedio had a pretty long look. - roenick97
Well that's saying something about player development if they can't get a guy to do what Seeler does. |

His cap hit could very well turn out to be a bargain but he has to improve substantially in his play away from the puck in my opinion to become a really good player.

Kucherov causes so much confusion and creates space in those cycles, not sure there is a better player in the offensive zone than him |
