Maybe so, but why keep Markstrom when his value is so high? If we wait til next year with the loss of Tanev and Hanifin, he may not look as good. Now’s the time to trade him and maximize his return. This team is not a playoff team as of right now, adding some speed and enthusiasm to the lineup never hurt. Flames still have enough veteran leadership to balance that out.
Sell, sell, sell.

The Flames aren't willing to rebuild and are only trading players they're forced too. Look at the weird Lindholm trade that is nonsensical if the plan is to rebuild and focus on the future. The Sharangovich trade was made with a similar mindset.
Sharangovich and Kuzmenko are making sure the Flames remain mediocre. It's really hard to get to the top without being bad first. Things are looking way better for the Blackhawks and Sharks than they are for the Flames.
Sell Markstrom, sell Weegar, sell Kadri, sell Sharangovich. Then we'll be getting somewhere.
