Kakko is a RFA next year making 2.1. He’ll be looking in the 3.5-3.6 range next year. That’s the same salary Vatrano will make next season. To me, it’s no brainer, I’ll take Vatrano all day long.

Plus they’ll have Othmann ready next year.

No he hasn’t, but to keep it under 3 million will be insulting. He’s not worth anything over 3 million, if he goes to Anaheim, he’ll flounder out there for a few years

Trading Kakko bc we have Othmann or whoever u want replacing him is like trading Buch all over again. U don’t trade a guy just bc u think u have his replacement. Othmann should be the 3rd line RW next year and let him learn from there. Othmann and Cuylle together would be fun to watch.

We literally saw Vatrano parlay playing with Zib and Krieder into almost 4 million a season. He fit like a glove

Do we know if a 3rd party getting him first half retained and then we get him from that 3rd party team at 2.5…idk if this the same thing as what we can’t do. I guess it would have to be a 3 team trade of some sort. Basically the 3rd party is taking 50% instead of the usual 25%

It wasn’t our luck…….. we knew he was at half speed and decided to think he was at full speed anyway. Some of us were just too blind to see that.

He wanted to come back this summer, but Drury didn’t have the space and didn’t want to find a way to make it

I don’t think they will. They may get Vatrano but it’ll be for a first and a prospect for sure, and maybe one more piece. I hear they don’t need a LHD prospect tho which kinda sucks thinking maybe Robertson or Jones.

I’d say a first, Berard or Sykora and maybe like Brody lamb or something. If you ain’t willing to do that go root for another team lol I think Vatrano would at that point be a Ranger for quite a few years (extended). At least til Zib and Kreider are out of years. Wed have a set top 6 that teams would envy imo

I honestly think if they did trade him we wouldn’t be that upset over the years because we have so many wingers to take his place. And his ceiling is just not gonna be great. 50/60 pts and defensive forwards are not something to die for over not having. I’m either way now, I’m fine keeping him or using him for a big trade. His cap hit won’t be anything too crazy where we can wait some more

Well, here we are in the middle of our window and at the top of the league and we have 4 forwards on pace for 50 points or more. You'll have to forgive those of us who don't want to move one that has that potential for short term solutions and less defensive depth.
I get that it's likely at this point, but I don't have to be happy about it.

Since kane was traded to the rangers he has had 43 points in 48 games between the rangers and red wings. If that means he stinks then pretty much everyone on the rangers does lol

It’s so dumb to say he stinks. You don’t like him fine, but he has never stunk on one leg he scored one of the best playoff goals we’ve seen in years. And everyone to a man hit the ceiling in their homes went that puck went in
