Vancouver would be stupid to trade him now unless it makes the team is better now because Pettersson is an RFA, but sitting first in the league it makes no sense, given the early deadline additions of Zadorov and Lindholm, they should focus on improving their bottom 6 instead, and make a decision with Pettersson over the summer because they hold his rights |

So a team with a legit Cup chance is about to trade their star player because contract negotiations aren't progressing? He's an RFA. You can deal him in the offseason if needed. But not right now.
Who won the competition for best Tanev trade offer? I don't recall any follow up on that. Also curious how Dallas swooped in when you had them at 0% on the rumour chart? |

The point is, ladies and gentleman, that greed, for lack of a better word, is good. Greed is right, greed works. Greed clarifies, cuts through, and captures the essence of the evolutionary spirit. Greed, in all of its forms; greed for life, for money, for love, knowledge has marked the upward surge of mankind. And greed, you mark my words, will not only save the NHL, but that other malfunctioning corporation called the USA. Thank you very much.

Hell yeah. Let’s take it back to the 50s when they all had regular jobs in the summer. Let Crosby drive a beer truck. |

Vancouver agreed to hear an offer from Carolina, and swiftly declined it yesterday. Contract negotiations then kicked into high gear today and are reportedly near completion according to just about every credible source on the internet. This post is a deluxe nothing burger with cheese, well done (as posts like this are far from rare on this site). |

Bingo. Some of this is just posturing. We want you to stay. You seem to want to stay. But the contract has to make sense for us. We're not shopping you. Again, our preference is we can figure out an 8-year extension...but just wanted to let you know that another team has made a serious offer. Would be such a shame to trade you away now and miss an opportunity to win a Cup this year, but we feel we need to a least listen.
EP panics and tells his agent to get back in there and be more reasonable in negotiations before they ship me off to Columbus right before the playoffs.
But some of the insiders don't get this and are now debating where he gets traded...

Only if this is Renee Zellweger circa 2005 |

Connor Geekie, 1st round pick (lottery protected, shifts to next year unprotected), Victor Soderstrom and a 2nd round pick.
Peripherals can be added like a Jack Mcbain, or Jusso Valimaki, as needed.
Canucks get a haul with some high upside o ln the pick and Geekie.
Coyotes get a first line center for the first time since Roenick and a leader to help bring along all of their other prospects, which didn’t take too big of a hit from this trade.

Pinto and Tkachuk for Petey and its a deal - Jkuzzi
Brady Tkachuk is a very rare player. Tim Stutzle has a good chance to be exactly what Elias Pettersson is. I don't think Pettersson is going anywhere, however if he was traded, Canucks would need and want an elite center or top line center++ in return.
Shane Pinto and Ridly Grieg will be excellent 3rd line centers that will play on the second line for seasons in their career |

The rumor is true. Dubas is overrated this guy big time.
Will he demand 10M+ as a winger? ....he's not Nylander. Jake's new contract kicks in at age 30. |

This is the most Canucks thing ever.
Dude turned down $12M x 8 so the known cost to resign the guy will bring down his overall return value because he is NOT McDavid, MacKinnon or Matthews. But he wants their type of payday meaning that THIS year represents his only year of guaranteed upside value. Unless he wants out of VAN and will sign somewhere else for $10.5M x 8 which would also be the most Canucks ki!!’lck in the teeth in recent memory. That said, if we must play the trade game…only one way to score on this year’s start and save face moving forward would to come out the other side somehow more marketable…

A 24 year old, 25-30 goal scorer (when healthy) center
A 23 year old, 50 point two-way center
A 10th overall pick prospect
and another top 10 pick.
I wouldn't accept it but what was the better off here?
