I'm pretty sure they can only terminate the contract if he does something "illegal" or against Team Policy - ELew11
Yea that’s what I was thinking. Like with Ruzikca. Can’t just willy nilly terminate a guy or it would happen all the time instead of buyouts
Like these Canadian junior guys, everyone of them would have been terminated by now you’d think |

What did Bonino do that was illegal or against team policy? - aecliptic
That was more mutual if I recall |

And so... if they waive him, he clears, says he has no intentions of playing in the AHL (like Bonino did)... then what? |

Two ways to terminate a contract:
1) If a player breaches contract
2) if the player and team mutually agree to termination |

Regardless the cap hit is all that matters and if they terminate the contract no way in hell that cap hit should come off or it would happen all the time wouldn’t it? |

Like offer sheets, just because they dont happen, doesnt mean that they cant. I dont see what stops anyone from doing that. I just think most teams would rather trade a guy. |

My point is the caps get free relief of Kuz contract that’s (frank)ed up and not fair to every team in the NHL. Can’t just do that or like I said every team would do it |

Theres also no salary cap in the playoffs so players can sit on LTIR with full cap relief to the team while they make trades and then miraculously these players come back for the playoffs without any issues. |

He got his millions, he also got his Cup... once freed from the Caps contract he is free to go back to Russia, make millions tax free, snort as much as his nose can handle and be treated like a megastar. |

You really think he’d agree to waive 8 million dollars? Like no it’s ok you don’t have to pay to that me lol no he is not doing that
As long as the cap hit stays I really don’t care because that’s what matters |

Its March 2nd, 3/4 of that has already been paid out to him. He would only terminate the remaining salary. |

Where do you think he will make more money? Paying nearly 50% of the 8mil hes owed in taxes... or going back to Russia where they will likely greet him with open arms, a white baggy and a blank check? |

When you know you dont have 4m to make next year you can say that. However, he knows he can go back and make that hand over foot in Russia. In Russia, its not just salary, hes still in the prime of his career and a Stanley Cup winner. He will become a mega celebrity, cleaning house on endorsement deals in Russia. So... 4m sitting on your arse, or go to Russia and make probably 20m, if not more. |

Or he could wait 365 days, collect 4 million in addition to what you think he can make in Russia as a porn star or something |

What are you talking about in addition?
I dont understand why you think that because hes in America the money is somehow worth more.
Why do you think all these Russian players, after they retire, go back home? As much as it is for money, its because its home.
Also, the Caps would be dumb to pay Kuzy to not play. |
