Don’t fall in love with your own players |

Can’t fall in love with players. Unless you’re the coach/GM.
So what does Seeler’s extension come in at? 3x3? - StepfordSam
if not traded shows he is a fraud.
also add they will give seeler a job after he is done playing...a backdoor deal !!! |

It’s beyond time to scratch Atkinson again. Zero points in last 12 games and minus -7 in those games. Minus -20 on the season. He obviously isn’t on the same page with Torts. Needs to go. - darkerens
Beyond time. He came back for one game. There’s a difference between not being on the same page as the coach and just being a player who is not only old but missed all of last season. |

I don’t think anyone was thinking “back door” until you used the word. |

They're on the same page. In fact, Atkinson was THE biggest advocate in the room for hiring Tortorella in the first place and is the only player on the team whom Tortorella considers a personal friend. But he's really, really struggled since early November except for a six-game, 10-point (5g, 5a) oasis/mirage in mid to late January.
Atkinson is so easy to like as a person and has had a good career. He had also had a very long road back from the neck surgery that cost him all of last season. So I really hope against hope that he isn't totally finished. But the games he's played since the All-Star Breal have been very concerning. It hasn't been getting better. - bmeltzer
He looks like a guy whose body just has nothing left to give right now. You know it’s not from lack of heart or effort, he just can’t do it anymore. At his age, it’s a slim chance at best that he will ever be even close to the player he was pre injury.
I think they need to just buy him out after the season and he likely retires. |

I’d love to see Atkinson get bought out. |

He is definitely a buyout candidate if they need to go that route |

Maybe a recurrence of his neck injury and long term Ellis like contract removal. |

Not saying you're wrong but that would potentially leave the Flyers with 11.4M of dead cap space for 24/25. What a mess.

Yeah but they aren’t a contender and won’t be next year either or in 25-26. By the time they might be ready to contend in 26-27 all of that dead cap space, save Ellis, is gone. And 26-27 is the last year of Ellis’ deal. |

Might be a saving grace for this organization to keep them from actually spending it on new contracts.

His cap hit is 7.8 million, his deal has another to go, and he looks like toast. No thanks |
