The isles are a better team than the flyers and with their schedule are primed to overtake them. Wildcard still in the air as Tampa is vulnerable - Just5

I’m not willing to say that.
But the Flyers should still be selling regardless. |

It looks like with Roy they are starting to play to their expectations which is that of a playoff team. Some impressive wins lately. Each position group is better than the flyers. |

Islanders are -19 in goal differential on the season. Flyers have better wingers. |

Flyers have been better overall and defensively. Flyers can’t match Barzal, Horvat and Nelson in the middle. No Flyer defenseman is even close to Dobson. But after that the Flyer roster has been clearly better. Sorokin gives NYI a solid edge in goal.

I thought at the beginning of the season the Flyers and Islanders would be battling it out for a playoff spot, but for a wildcard playoff spot, not 3rd place in the Metro. The Islanders are playing better, however IMO the Flyers are a better road team and have been playing playoff style hockey from the very beginning, so I think they will beat out the Islanders. It all depends on what happens at the deadline. I am really starting to believe the Flyers will stand pat, not add, but not subtract. |

If that’s what they do. A year from now they will look back and realize it was another stupid decision in a long line of stupid decisions by those in charge. As a fan who pays attention, it will become apparent that Briere and Jones were not qualified to be in their roles.
What will this year be remembered for?
1) you lost a top prospect for for unexplained reasons when you couldnt afford to.
2) your star goalie and face of the franchise was charged with sexual assault and basically forced into early retirement.
3) you decided to run it back with close to 30 year old vets while now acknowledging your d in the AHL for whom were supposed to need some seasoning are not going to be very good. Yet your AHL coach will get another vote of confidence for another job well done.
But hey you might make the play offs and cap off a surprise season….people will pat Torts on the back for a job well done.
But reflecting back the Flyers are no closer to being a contender because of ineptness at the top.
I hope Briere proves me wrong in the next 48 hours, but I’m starting to get the sense it might just be the same old, same old. |

This is an easy slam dunk trade deadline for Briere.
Very concerning that there is any consternation. |

Odds are next season, under bigger expectations, the Flyer will most likely struggle to match their success of this season, they need to hit the deadline and off-season remembering that, by all means make the playoffs, do small thing to make the playoffs but stay in sell mode.

Positive…yes when there’s reasons to be. - landros 2 I really can't dispute this other than there is time to amend things, and Pierre Lebrun mentioned last night that Walker was in play for the Oil and Laffs. I just wonder though if Seeler is gonna be out for any amount of time if they are really willing to part with Walker. I think they were expecting Andrae to be part of this defense by now, but apparently he has disappointed. Not sure why they brought Attard up only to have him sit and watch. |

While we still have 2 days....Everything I was worried about going into this season is coming true.
Would the front office have the stomach to do a true rebuild even if the fans were putting pressure?
Would they truly sell off at the deadline even if they had a chance to make the playoffs?
I think they believe their own hype when they see that they have the #1 rated prospect in hockey (deserved) and the #6 ranked prospect pool in the NHL (most decidedly NOT deserved).
They say they owe it to the players, those same players they say they cant fall in love with.
They have two days to show the fans they are in this for the long haul and not blow up the whole process for some 1 and done playoff run.
If they sign Seeler, I can almost live with that. If they sign Walker, we will know the whole rebuilding thing is BS. If they sign them both, the team is just giving the finger to the fan base and telling us to (frank) off.
We will revisit this Saturday morning when its all over I guess.
