I think they're probably better off if they end up with the '26 pick. Vegas is getting old, contracts are expiring, and they don't really have much to replace them. And the pick is unprotected.

Conroy will need to hit with some of these picks. Let's hope they have invested in scouting.

Yes I do understand how trades work. It takes 2 to tango. And it takes a supply and demand. It would appear Conchia, and the Flames had a fair amount of the supply and sold low. Even as a anti-flames fan I would say they sold low on Tanev and Hani. Could have waited an extra day or two on each and got greater rewards. Tried to play the field. If he did, he wasn't likely getting anything less. If he did he could have possibly gotten a little more. Do you honestly think either of those guys couldn't have fetched more closer to the deadline? I do.

Hitting on picks has been a strength for the Flames for a while now, and I think Conroy had a lot to do with that. They've been one of the better drafting teams since Treliving took over.

Like, how when so many Calgary fans ripped Oiler fans for the Hall for Larsson trade (which actually looks pretty fair now), or the poopty draft years where they had no one to select but Yakupov.

Most of my comments are towards those that expected a 1st, a 2nd, and a top prospect for each guy being sold. I said that was wishful thinking. And got attacked for that as well. "OH everyone is gonna pay for our parts" they said. I said they had too many parts and would get pennies on the dollar because they were selling so many.

How does it look now? Yes, each one of those guys should have gotten 1st plus returns... But when you have 5-6 of them other teams know you need any and some returns, especially after the Gaudreau and Tkachuk situations.

Grush is a potential shutdown 4-5 dman. brzalphabet is a barrie. the rest are lottery picks. what 2 extra top picks in top 50 next 2 years... Amazing return for those lost.

Because your former GM let the other prizes go for nothing and every other team knew this GM was afraid of that potential happening again. So instead of waiting until the last DAY, not minute, he sold low to make sure he didn't get Tkachuked or Guadreaud again.

IF he waited 24-36 hours longer he's getting better returns. But be happy he got secondary returns instead because he had to get something for them. Better spare parts then actual returns.
