Lets say the Rangers do get Guentzel... I think they should still go after a RW like Duclair and make the line just straight firepower with Guentzel, Mika, Duclair. - aecliptic
I think we all know where I stand on trades at this point, but do we really feel like Duclair makes us better, overall? I've never seen or read anything that makes me think he isn't still totally one-dimensional. Of all the trade targets mentioned, the only ones I'd be ok with are Buch or Toffoli. But ideally, I still just want to see our current roster gel. |

He is totally one dimensional and thats all we need from him, however after they have traded most of their biggest assets for Guentzel, Duclair on the cheap could be a nice option for RW. |

The last thing we need is to become less team-defense oriented.
Remember the female doging around here as we went from the textbook 1-3-1 squad to not being able to stop an opponent from going wherever they pleased? |

He's provides some skill and speed. I'd take him. but that would after the exhausted other avenues. |

One player doesnt cripple an entire team. But like I said, its contingent on that line scoring, if that line doesnt score, then it makes it all moot. However, I think a line of Guentzel, Mika, Duclair should be able to score, score enough that the other team is on their heels when theyre out there and they dont end up having to play defense. |

Now we're getting Guentzel AND Duclair????? Not sure how that works.
Also, you're moving all-time Rangers great Kreider to the 3rd line for a one-dimensional player with fewer goals and an autograph book signed by 2/3's of the league's GMs? |

As I said, Duclair probably wont be an expensive get and yes, were moving Kreider to the 3rd line so that we can play Guentzel on his strong side rather than forcing him to play on the RW which may or may not work out.
Lets say we trade for Guentzel and he doesnt pan out playing RW. What do you do? You gonna tell him, "hey, buck up, figure it out, we gave up a lot for you"? No. Youre gonna put him on the LW, be forced to move Kreider either to RW (which we know he doesnt like either because that experiment was already tried) or you leave Kreider on LW but move him to the 3rd line. But wait... whos gonna play RW...? Kakko's probably gone in a deal for Guentzel. Cuylle? Do you trust him yet? Vesey again? Maybe we should try Goodrow again on the 1st line? Atleast with Duclair you got a guy with a lot of speed who can score goals who CAN play RW.
If Mika has decided he wants to be a passer, then surround him with shooters. |

Why don't the Rangers get a RW instead of another LW? |

Because Im not Chris Drury and right now all the rumors are surrounding Guentzel so thats what we got to work with for now until something else comes out to change that. |
