That’s why I just want the team built like that from the get go. Every year at the deadline everyone wants to add those type of players. Why not just have them on the team the whole season (we’re pretty good right now) and worse case we’d be the ones finally getting overpaid for players like that at the deadline.

I think half costs more tho. Stl GM said 2 firsts before he said he’d to retain. So maybe nothing crazy but would cost more you have to figure. But it’s definitely the better move imo. I want Jake but not if it’s costs a lot without re-signing

And yea the cap hit 50% is literally squeezed in like a glove. It’s almost meant to be. 2.9 and didn’t we have 2.912 or something like that?

Players (realistic ones) I’d be very excited to trade for: buch and guentzel
Player I’d be fairly happy about assuming price is right: toffoli
Anyone else already being discussed is a disappointment

The our issue is more than just grit. The Avs can score the lights off a building. Their core is rock solid. So when they hit the deadline, its usually for depth, bottom 6 guys who usually dont cost a ton to get while some how managing to keep a decent amount of their draft picks.

Their trade of Byram for Mittelstadt would be like us trading Schneider for him. The Avs, wouldnt be afraid to make that trade. I think Rangers fans would raise hell if they did. Blah blah blah, the future, blah blah blah. Avs want to win the cup, and theyre showing it with their moves.

NY's 1st round pick AND Kaapo Kakko could BOTH be in the deal.

Kakko is 23 and scored 40 pts last season. Former #2 overall pick.
