and look at us in terrible shape almost leading the NHL in pts - Slimtj100
I get the “go for it” mentality. But IMO this team is set up for a long time of potential playoff runs. Shesty has 10 years left in him, Fox Schneider Miller all young. Othmann Cuylle Laf Kakko Perrault all under 24. That’s a very good core moving forward and who knows what else we’ll add. Not to mention the bottom 6 finally looks like a bottom 6 with Rempe and Edstrom. |

My opinion -
I think people underestimate how good Jake is. Crosby has played with top flight guys like Hossa, Iginla, etc. and he's made average players like Dupuis and Kunitz top quality wingers. However, to me, Jake is in a league of his own. He is the clear cut best winger Crosby has ever had. People think Crosby makes Jake better and he does, but Jake also makes Sid better.
None of you have likely watched the Penguins since Jake's been out (and that's a good thing for you) and let me tell you, Crosby isnt at the level he was at when Jake and Rust were healthy.
He's a top player that could very well put you over the top. If you have a chance to go get him, you should take it. He is a legit gamechanger for anyone that picks him up. The Penguins surrendered countless picks and prospects during our runs. I've never looked back on any of them and regretted trading them. Whether we lost in the 1st round or won the Cup. |

I doubt many people who have seen his success with the Pens underestimate him. Nobody wants to pay a kinds ransom for a rental. The Canes have a better chance if resigning him than the Rangers do with their comparative cap situations. |

Glad it’s not us. Othmann or Kakko aren’t with a rental. Not saying Guentzel isn’t a great player, just don’t think it’s the right trade for us. |

Probably for the best
Vatrano, Buch or Duclair. Duclair is a huge fall off tho |

I think JG is the best player on the market and I still want nothing to do with him. With the idea of the cost going to Pit, I'd rather go for Buch or stand pat. Send the picks away and keep Kakko. |

Can't stand pat. They need a RW. That move has to be made. |

Buch could be better option anyway. Or Frankie Wheels. Ready made chemistry is important. Never know if Jake would’ve meshed well
Aaaaaand there is always Patrick Kane 😬 |

All true, but talent wise it’s a huge drop off. |

Besides. there's a chance on March 12th he skates into a corner with Rempe he can't skate out of.

Theres a rumor that the Canes are taking Reilly Smith in the deal with Guentzel. This could be why the Canes may have won the trade, their ability to take a bad contract off the Pens hands. |
