Doesn’t the pick move back to 2026 if the Aves dont finish within the bottom 10 next season? It’s suppose be top 10 protected if the Aves are bad next season. What are the conditions? - roenick97
The pick is top 10 protected. So if the pick is in the top 10, it is moved to 2026. Very simple concept. |

We received a 1st round pick because we took Johansen as part of the deal.
What do we have to lose by playing Johansen the rest of the year? He currently ranks tied for 5th in goals on the Flyers and if he can help with faceoffs...
I have to believe that a strong locker room wouldn't allow one new player to come in and disrupt it. - cdearth23
Well if he’s buried in LHV I think it saves like 1.3 mil of cap space. So maybe this is to preserve cap space through the TDL just in case there’s another trade. Just a guess. Also apparently he doesn’t see eye to eye with Toets.

So in order to get a first round pick that will be in the range of 26-30, they hold their nose and take on a player they have no interest in playing? More dead money. - PLindbergh31
Meh dead money for a few months at best.

A great team in Colorado saw no use for the guy, are his talent and skill good enough to go along with his perceived poor quality of person? What’s the talent/skill required to overcome a crappy person ? - ClaudeFather
Colorado needed to clear cap space to add to their team. The Flyers have a deficit of talent and skill on their team. Why not try him out and see if he can help a little. The Flyers aren't a contending team. They can move Laughton to the wing and sit Deslauriers and play Johansen at center. I don't know if Johansen will fight and be the great guy that Deslauriers is though. With how important Deslauriers is to the room.

Are you familiar with his injury history? I'm concerned. That hit that injured him really wasn't that brutal. I see hits like that all the time in games, but it was probably a season ender for him. Yes, I'm concerned that one so young seems to get banged up so easily. - Phillywhiteout
concern yes but at 21, going to 22, he should be able to put good weight on, add good muscle, then we will see how it goes. |

Maybe he’s that bad of a guy, who knows. It really can’t hurt to try him in the lineup. If your team is that fragile that he would ruin the room, you didn’t have a strong room to begin with. |

It was hopefully a teaching moment, his head was buried surrounded by other players approaching their blue line. He was in an extremely vulnerable position, a position that leads to injury. |

When you see that the relatively useless Edmundsson got a 3rd and a 5th, it makes you wonder what a healthy Seeler could have got back. They could have always signed him on July 1st.

I would think the team that traded for him, wouldve tried to resign. Unless he craps the bed.

Could be a number of things. Perhaps it’s an immediate message sent to see how he responds. Let him know he needs to try and break this reputation that he’s earned. Maybe they told him with his skill he’ll get an honest shot to make the team in the summer if the sulking stops and he’s a positive presence at Lehigh valley. Who knows |

Seems like an easy decision, not withstanding the locker room challenge the AVs noted. I can see them sending him down to send a message and letting the group who has been playing a chance to prove they can win. That said, it should be a short leash, they lose a game or two, make the change.
I want the Flyers in the playoffs, if I am betting, they are not but go for it.

Antti Raanta on waivers. I wonder if the Flyers put in a claim?

I'm trying to decide if you think the player is worth the 1st alone or if you really hate the idea of the dead money (which is only for this year and next - both of which will be rebuild years). - FlyersGrace
I know they have no chance to win a Cup this year, but holding a playoff spot all year and punting it rubs me the wrong way. I want to see playoff hockey, regardless if it’s only one round. I understand the trade. A first round pick is a good return for Walker, even with Johansen attached. (I’d play him) |

lot of coin to bury in LHV for the rest of this year and next. If an expiring deal no biggie. not as great a deal as it seemed. Assuming he is buried in the minors for the duration.
Him and Cal 2 buyout candidates. Comcast needs that playoff revenue!!! |
