Seems like an easy decision, not withstanding the locker room challenge the AVs noted. I can see them sending him down to send a message and letting the group who has been playing a chance to prove they can win. That said, it should be a short leash, they lose a game or two, make the change.
I want the Flyers in the playoffs, if I am betting, they are not but go for it. - wcorvette
he is a vet who is gonna get paid regardless. what message you sending? |

I know they have no chance to win a Cup this year, but holding a playoff spot all year and punting it rubs me the wrong way. I want to see playoff hockey, regardless if it’s only one round. I understand the trade. A first round pick is a good return for Walker, even with Johansen attached. (I’d play him) - PLindbergh31
Another player Torts went all LaZy HaYes on. |

Maybe he’s that bad of a guy, who knows. It really can’t hurt to try him in the lineup. If your team is that fragile that he would ruin the room, you didn’t have a strong room to begin with. - ClaudeFather
Right, who knows. I agree completely. How can one guy ruin a good room? If he becomes an issue, they can remove him. If he clears waivers, they can send him down without having to put him on waivers for 30 day and or 10 games. If he's such a bad guy, why would you want him with your AHL team and your developing players?

Antti Raanta on waivers. I wonder if the Flyers put in a claim? - MBFlyerfan
The hell happened to that guy's game? |

Well if he’s buried in LHV I think it saves like 1.3 mil of cap space. So maybe this is to preserve cap space through the TDL just in case there’s another trade. Just a guess. Also apparently he doesn’t see eye to eye with Toets. - mikeyo27
interesting thought. |

Seeler's contract is for 4 years. Having a NTC for the first two years doesn't make the other two years disappear. Seeler does not have a NMC. He has a NTC. A player with a NTC can demoted at any time. - MJL
for the first two years. After that the Flyers have flexibility. |

So in order to get a first round pick that will be in the range of 26-30, they hold their nose and take on a player they have no interest in playing? More dead money. - PLindbergh31
My understanding is the Flyers could have got Colorado's 2024 1st round pick much easier, but the Flyers valued their 2025 1st round pick, because they wanted two picks next season and the 2025 draft is projected to be a deeper draft, thus the price went up. |

Its fact, not justification! After two years the Flyers have full flexibility with Seeler, so I look at this as a 2 year deal which I am fine with. |

I do see a trend, but Drysdale is still very young. I have seen many players his age get injured earlier in their careers, but as they got bigger, stronger, and developed better nutritional and work-out habits, go on to have long and healthy careers. It's just too early to label Drysdale as injury prone. - jd250
Please name a few..I am curious as to the extent of the injuries..season enders?
Just curious. |

The pick is top 10 protected. So if the pick is in the top 10, it is moved to 2026. Very simple concept. - ClaudeFather

They can send him down any time in the four years if he turns into a pumpkin and save a little bit on the cap.
I have also seen many players waive their NTC if the destination is favorable. I don’t think the 4 years is overly problematic though would have preferred less. |

A strong locker room is created by being a competitive team. By winning. When a team struggles, frustration seeps in and causes issues. It's human nature. Just build a team with talent and skill with quality people and the room takes care of itself. At least for a period of time. It ebbs and flows with the team. - MJL
Wrong, its more than that. The basis of a strong locker room is the personalities and how they handle adversity has a lot to do with it. Winning helps. but theres a lot more to it than that. I dont expect you to understand

You're trying to somehow justify or let yourself off the hook by pretending due to the NTC, that it somehow turns the contract from 4 years to 2 years. So you don't have to criticize it based on your previous opinion that you only wanted two years for Seeler. That is illogical and simply fantasy. Why does a player like Seeler get any trade protection anyway?
