I heard he had a lacerated kidney on NHL radio today - corduroy
I don't know what the time frame is for that. Doesn't sound good.
This is what I want. I want my team to be the team making big time moves at the deadline with a stacked team. Vegas won the cup last year and now has added Hanifan, Hertl and Mantha. I want my team doing the cap gymnastics. How psyched would you be as a Vegas fan?
It's why I'm so adamant and so committed. I want the Flyers to stop (frank)ing around and get on the right track. They're not on it and I have zero faith that they will get on it. I honestly and truly hate feeling and thinking that way but that's just the way it is.

So..
TDL is done. We traded 1 UFA, overpaid to keep another.
Took on a player Torts refuses to even look at.
Traded for another $3 mill plus/ per 3rd pairing dman.
Swapped minor leaguers.
Pretty underwhelming to say the least.
They added more players for the playoff chase than they traded for the rebuild.

I hope the Flyers use one or both of these 1st rounders this year to acquire known commodities that fit into the age structure going on here. These 2 picks really are not that great and I would be willing to let another team dream and throw darts. There are weak franchises that could be taken advantage of. I was hoping it would happen today but hopefully at the draft they get bold - Keyser soze
That would be incredibly stupid of the Flyers to take that approach. It would be so Flyer though.

Unbelievable how Vegas with no prospects and always trading their picks gets marquee players with $$$. That LTIR is really something. Stone (who is legitimately injured) will miraculously return for the playoffs. - mikeyo27
I've moved past the whole how they use LTIR as a loophole and can't figure out how these deals get through for what they give up...
Who owns the Golden Knights and do they have pictures of other GMs?

I don’t think it would. I’m talking about a 22-24 year old player who is established and has real value. I’m much rather do that than drafting late and hoping this guy develops in 2-3 years. Next year draft is much more deeper according to those who know. I really don’t think this team is that far off. Imo |

That’s not really fair. The Johnson trade makes 0 sense. Otherwise, they did well with the Walker trade, Seeler is meh and not worth jumping off a clifff over, and the swapping of Allison is probably best for everyone. The thing that will let me sleep tonight is what they didn’t do: trade youth for vets. They lost a fourth. Sucks, but I can sleep happy still after that Walker deal. Let’s see what they do this summer. That will be more telling. |

What were you expecting though? They've stated their current playoff position wasn't going to deter them from their eye for the future and that's exactly what was proven when they shipped out Walker at the height of his value. |

The only 22-24 year old player you're going to get with trading a 1st rounder is a player another team is giving up on. You're still in the hoping game that he develops. It's a bad idea. This team is not remotely close to anything. They are far off. They need elite talent and a good amount of it. They have one potential elite asset in the system. You aren't going to get that by trading first round picks. |

They trade Walker not because they were rebuilding but because they couldn't make a deal with him that they liked. They wanted to keep him.

Flyers make the Playoffs. Gave the Canes round 1. Game 7. 2nd OT. Aho dumps the puck in for a line change. Johnson retrieves the puck and sends it up to Ryan Johansen at center ice. He skates in to the zone. See Gurianov streaking in to the slot and dishes off to him. Gurianov muscles past Pesce and blasts one past Anderson to the series.
It could happen. |

Fair enough, but it also falls in-line with the with what management has been saying for a while now that they weren't going to fall in love with guys and they need to think beyond this season, whether you want to call that a rebuilding mindset or not.

Getting a first out of Walker is nice. I will give that, but they also took on a contract that extends past this year, at a large enough price to replace a third liner. The refusal to play Johansen makes his salary a liabilty and the contract is on the books. How many are we at now? 50? For his salary & the Flyers holes at center, etc, etc, he should at least get a game or 2 in to see if he can play better than ND.
I wanted Allison on the 3rd/ 4th line, not in the AHL..probably better for him, but is Garionov any kind of improvement? or just a sideways trade to accomidate moving Allison?I think he would have fit in well with Poehling and Hathaway. No big loss, but I think most of us were expecting more than what happened over the last few days.
There were big talks of firsts, seconds, young prospects etc..we got a contract, an AHLer, and a 6-7 dman at triple his current salary for almost the next half decade, NTC to boot. |

Right now, with no reasonable legitimate chance to contend. This team is more committed to the playoffs then they are to the rebuild. They always have been and always will be. Nothing has happened for that to be proven to be false in my opinion.

buffalo said it you dipschitt. they left it up to him. go or stay. what dont you comprehend. - hello it's me 2050
They wanted him gone and he wanted out. Doesn’t mean the Flyers are going to play him every single game. Buffalo got offered a 4th round pick so I’m sure they were very much of the “you should go” mentality.
Why are you having a temper tantrum? It’s a message board about the Flyers. Chill out, you sound like a little female dog. |

They walked away with a 1st round pick. That’s a win. I don’t love the Seeler deal at all. Laughton can go at the draft… seems like there is a bunch of interest there. |

They have plenty of draft picks and the 4th that they spent today was to replace Seeler who has a broken foot. Anyone that has played the game knows that if you get hit on the outside of the skate like that it's vulcanized rubber on bone. The instep you can possibly handle, but not being hit there. I actually wish they would have gotten a backup goalie as well cause after Ersson they have nada. |

Just this year...Briere is in for the playoffs, and he wanted to pick up a dman and forward on the cheap. he did that.
From todays inquirer:

Danny can speak for the other fans. Not me.
Whatever happens, happens, and I'm ok regardless. But to make moves just to "get in the playoffs". Nah, I'm not on board with that.
I'd of been perfectly fine with them doing nothing aside from the Walker trade. Run with what ya got and see where the chips fall. |
