I think Ginning sees the writing on the wall and knows that he's not going to get a shot here. - MJL
Unfortunately I agree. Maybe he can turn this opportunity into something. It's an extremely tough long shot but crazier things have happened.
But you're most likely right. He's a goner |

I have been critical of Staal, but he has been better, guy gets in the way and plays hard. Still should be the 7th or 8th D. I would call the Panthers and see if they wanted him for a 7th. |

If Drysdale, Seeler and Ristolainen are all healthy, what chance does he have?

lol as usual you know nada. They got a bunch of nothing burgers for jg. - Stayin alive
Guentzel is a UFA and thus can sign anywhere we wants at the end of this season. The Penguins for a really good, young winger in Bunting, two recent 2nd round picks that a really good prospects and a 1st round pick. I would say that is a nice return. |

not a Frost post, it is a Cam post, time for him to sit unless everyone gets injured
Tippett-Frost-Atkinson: outscored 4-1 (20% goal share) with a 43% expected goal share.
Tippett and Frost without Atkinson: outscoring opponents 14-5 (74% goal share) with a 58% expected goal share.
Tippett and Frost have absolutely dominated in nearly 200 minutes together. - wcorvette
I liked when it was Farabee-Frost-Tippett.

I just don't know if you slide Laughton to Coot's left side and add RyJo? Maybe sneak into Russia and smuggle Michkov out? |

why I am warming up to 11-7, sit ND, sit Cam and give Ginning or Attard a shot, or both depending when other D get healthy. - wcorvette
Cam has got to sit. He is offering absolutely nothing positive and is a negative every time he gets on the ice.
I know he's a great guy, team mate, and friend of torts but it's time for him to sit |

Torts is constantly trying to fit Cam in, find the right mix, I think that effects cohesion on those lines he is swapping Cam back and fourth from. |

Seems as though you're uninformed. First of all, the 1st rounder is conditional. It only becomes a 1st if the Canes reach the finals. Otherwise it's a 2nd. Bunting is not young. He will be 29 when next season starts. One prospect is projected as a 3rd liner. The other a bottom 6 player and the 3rd prospect is doubtful he ever becomes an NHL player. All for one of the top wingers and goal scorers in the NHL? A very underwhelming return. The Canes easily won this trade. Seriously upgraded with Guentzel over Bunting. Didn't have to give up a top prospect and a conditional 1st. It's a steal and a big time add for the Canes who need goal scoring.
Contrast with what the Flyers got for Giroux. A 1st and Owen Tippett. |

Atkison is tough, if he is playing well he can add depth scoring, but right now he just seems to be plugging things up. If they could just find that dynamic forward it would makes things so much easier to have rotations of others.

Got it all figured out do you. Actually I think Ginning has the best chance to make the Flyers because the Flyers need size on the backend. York, Drysdale and eventually Andrea are all small. Sanheim is large but doesn't play large. Seeler is here and plays tough but he does not have size. Zamula is bigger but also does not play big, at least not yet. Risto would have been traded at the deadline if he was not injured and I still believe will be traded this off-season. Staal is gone after this year. So I think there is a spot for a defenseman like Ginning on this team. I think there may not be a spot for Attard. |

Watch and learn.
What 3rd pair mediocre defenseman with 3 years of term left at 5.1M was traded in the last month heading toward the deadline that leaves you to believe that Ristolainen would've been traded at the deadline? Or any defenseman for that matter? |

I was looking at the overall picture, absolutely hate the Wennberg pickup, but love it as a Flyer fan. I think Drury is happy and just wants depth, but depth gets in they are screwed.

It's definitely not the fleecing that some people keep saying it is. They didn't get the sexy centerpiece back but that team is barren in depth and this trade helped them there. Plus Crosby gets a potential complimentary winger who's locked in for another season. |

I didn't know the 1st was conditional, but I disagree with your assessment of the two prospects. Ville Koivunen is having a great year in Liiga and I believe has the size and skill to be a top 6 forward. Vasili Ponomaryov is only 21 and I have read good things about him, though he probably will be a bottom 6 forward. I think Bunting is a good forward that can score 25 goals in this league and is tough to play against. I think this is fine for a UFA. If Carolina felt they could sign him, maybe they would have given up more.
The Flyers will most likely get the 32nd pick in the first round and Tippet for Giroux. Given Giroux only wanted to go to Florida, a good return. |
