At least TSN gets some information correct

I'm sure they made that calculation when they added Karlsson. They needed puck-moving help desperately and Petry wasn't getting it done. And Crosby can turn just about anybody into a viable linemate. So in that case you'd prioritize Karlsson over Guentzel.

I disagree completely. They've gotten worse this year and it cost them arguably their best player for the future for a middling return. It was management malpractice at it's best.

You have to look into the future and see that if they re-sign Malkin and LeTang and trade for Karlsson, that they won't be able to afford Guentzel. Crosby is still a pretty good player but I doubt he turns Bunting into Guentzel.

GMDB gave up Walker and a 7th, are a little salary, and walked away with a coveted 2025 1st, and a 5th, and has a steady veteran defenseman for a few years under contract. Can’t complain at all. There is no need to trade Laughton at this point unless the offer is one they can’t refuse. Hopefully RR is moved in the summer.
