say whatever you want about the individual players, the team is 3 wins behind the lightning. thems the facts. - TheSabresTaco
Sabres are 7 points behind, and Tampa has a game in hand.
Tampa is 7 points clear, with their top 5 goaltender not playing anywhere near his normal level.
What does that say about their overall roster?
Where would the Sabres be in the standings if they had goaltending like Tampa has had this season?
Thems the facts. |

Adams was widely criticized this year for not making an external goaltending addition.
He was criticized for keeping 3 goalies on the 23 man roster.
If you don’t think he deserves credit for UPL being here idk what to tell ya - Swedish_Jesus
“Devon came in, he played well here, he showed that he’s an NHL goalie,” Luukkonen said. “I had a winning streak … so I was in the same similar spot. When you’re feeling good, it’s a good spot to be in when you know that you can be the difference and win those games.
“But it kind of gave me that perspective of what the coaching decisions are and were.”
The 6-foot-5, 217-pound Luukkonen tried to embrace some difficult situations this season. Carrying three goalies is unusual, especially for nearly half the campaign.
“It is challenging and it’s not the optimal situation,” he said.

Out of Trouba, Clifton and Petry, Clifton has provided the most positive impact to his team per minute.
I should also note that Clifton faces the easiest competition of the three. - TheSabresTaco
OK, and I would still take both over him. |

Sadly I don’t think that pace gets them there in their last 16.
They would need every team ahead of them to basically go .500 rest of the way.
That all changes if they win the next 2 though. - ImThatGuy
Yeah, we literally need a 10 game winning streak to make it interesting. |

Making it fun! Kinda feels like something they do at the end every Year. Maybe this one Ends differently. It in No Way should affect the changes needed by Adams in the Offseason. |

Tage has played like that all year. His passing is atrocious. |

Then you are being bias. That’s par for the course for you.
Clifton has been good for his role since mid January ish. |

He should be criticized for this. A vet + UPL, with Levi in Roch was the right move at the time and still is in hindsight.
A 3G circus, forcing Levi into a starter's role, never made sense. Bringing back Comrie never made sense. He wasn't the vet they needed. Their approach to this is one of the many things that add up to cost them the season.

How am I being bias when both players play almost 4 or 5 minutes a night more than Clifton and get the harder match-ups. No that's just telling it how it is. |

Yes, everyone assumed that UPL would go from being one of the worst statistical goalies in the entire NHL to one of the best.
Adams should be in the Hall of Fame right now. He had the foresight to see that coming when no one else did.
Or is it the fun fact that their plan blew up in their face and then they just got extremely lucky.
But it’s the course poster to criticize another team, but then praise the Buffalo Sabres for the same exact thing |

The thing about UPL for me, and I’m sure there’s disagreement, is that all he lacked was consistency. He had the draft pedigree, the play before going pro, and showed well at times over the past 2 years prior to this one. The double hip surgery really slowed his development path, but the talent was there, it was just locking in consistently. |

I have been focused on them improving the D as my top priority.
I wouldn't mind if he got a BUG so The Phenom can continue to bake in the AHL.
Then trade him at the '25 TDL.
BTW, all the pundants believes Kevy was searching high and low for a 1A or 1B ... So don't get too crazy in believing Kevyn though he had his starter nailed down in UPL.
I also wanted a physical, power forward who can play... That morphed over time to a specific player with leadership qualities... Landing on Brady Tkachuk.
Kevyn is 1 for 3 ... He continues to have a lot of work to do on the roster.

Just like upl who sucked the 1st half of the year. On March 13th. He’s good. |

Remember part of what made the fan base dislike to even hate the core prior to the tearing down of the roster?
It was the year to year end of season furious march to 9th.
This core may have that in common for 2 seasons in a row. |
