Thats the way I read what he was saying. He basically was saying because its a first one and precedent has already been set, it will likely be 3 games at most, even though it should be more.

I love what Rempe brings to the team, but he needs to keep is elbows tucked in, and legs. Dudes already big enough where if he makes a clean hit, there could be head contact

He took a run at Lybushkin in the game against the Leafs , left his feet and caused a mild head injury.
If he doesn't get the message he will hurt the Rangers in the playoffs for suredoing something stupid.

His feet left the ice after he made contact, just like every other hit in the NHL. The Lybushkin hit was clean, no penalty and no suspension/fine. What are we doing here?

They won't because the PA will get involved and everyone will whine. I do agree that messages don need to be sent, the issue is the lack of consistent application of the rules. Send a message and maybe the garbage ends or players are smarter.

No doubt a major penalty and deserves discipline. As. New player in the league non offender I say maybe 2 to3 games. 5 games nah no history of suspension. I agree that if the league wants to institute a 5 game ban yes start next year. The kid will own it and move on. Lavy hopefully has addressed it with him. I’m not going to get crazy like others have about it. He’s been a target since being promoted.

100% - The system needs to change to force the players to. I see incidental head contact with follow throughs etc and feel like, fine, 1-2 games because it was accidental. At his height a chicken wing can only hit the head, and it's not like this is his first game in any league.

I think like Jim said, that hit was very similar to Cooke on Mcdonagh. Cooke landed a 10 game regular season suspension for that. Plus playoffs. So it total it was 17 games. If Rempe gets 3 or less, take it and move on. (People arguing against it, not you.)

If a new rule were to be implemented, and I’m not against it, there needs to be clear distinction in what it says. The “flying elbow” should be an automatic 5 games. 2nd offense 10. I also wouldn’t be opposed to making it an automatic 10 if the opposing player gets a concussion
