Rempe is a kid and he needs to understand you gotta take the wins with the losses. He was going to whiff on that check when Siegenthaler hit the breaks as hard as he could. Rather than taking the L and skating into the boards, he decided to brace himself and stick his elbow out thinking of atleast getting a piece of him. These are the things the coaches need to talk to Rempe about. Take the L, skate through, miss the hit. Theres no reason to try to stick out the elbow in hopes of salvaging the hit, only bad things come of this. Furthermore, this goes back to my point about Rempe becoming a better skater. Hes gotta see that Siegenthaler was on full break, he needs to do a better job of exiting his line and turning the corner. Cant just skate in straight lines.

100% - The system needs to change to force the players to. I see incidental head contact with follow throughs etc and feel like, fine, 1-2 games because it was accidental. At his height a chicken wing can only hit the head, and it's not like this is his first game in any league.

Great article as always Jan. Sorry to hear your daughter and you had to endure with those unruly fans. They are upset their team did not play this season as they expected....and couldn't retain their coach......and stay healthy..... I mean, it's not like their former captain never had a dirty play in his hall of fame career. Rempe is young and does need to be smarter, and that is a play that will most likely get him suspended. We don't need bad plays to cost us a game. I am looking forward to his interaction with Tom Wilson though.

I agree with everything u said. Maybe I read what u said wrong before. The way I read what u wrote was basically if there’s head contact on the follow through of a hit it should be a game or 2 suspension. I’ll go back and re-read it but that’s how I read it the first time/what I was referring to.
