Same rags fans cried over Wilson ....... now they get a disrespectful punk and make excuses....and Stevens would destroy either of them with a clean open ice hit...... - angryagain
Why so angry?
Stevens would have been suspended more than once in today's NHL.
Scott Stevens stood people up with clean hits..... open ice hits.... please don't compare this dbag to Stevens who led his team to multiple championships including sweeping my Wings in 95 when Stevens destroyed Slava Kozlov with a clean open ice hit.... a real hockey play... punks comparing a defensive legend to this punk waving as he left the ice.... - angryagain
Scott Steven's went for the HEAD every chance he got...played with intent to injure
NO! Let's not celebrate a guy who takes cheap shots, ok? I have no problem with fighting. If its two willing combatants, fight away. But I can do without elbows to the chin.

Nothing borderline on the Bastian hit at all. Totally clean hit refs blew that big time. What was wrong with the Lybushkin hit?, This is hockey - hfc355
Well I guess thatâs that. Because âthis is hockeyâ after all
Rangers are a class organization, but they MUST clean up the Rempe situation....sit the kid down and teach him to use his advantages at better moments and to stop the incessant fighting and bad plays like he made after the terrible elbow and the goading......he looked like a goon which he is not. Come on Rangers teach this kid!!!!

No one is comparing him to the championship pedigree of Stevens, just the dangerous, violent aspect. And, if you really think Stevens threw clean hits you are probably young enough that you don't even remember him play. He hit more guys in the head than almost any player to lace up skates.
Your problem is with players like MacDermid. If Rempe had to take every challenge from tomato cans like MacDermid he'd never get to finish a shift. MacDermid was pissed because he knows he's nothing in the NHL without someone to fight. When Rempe told him "no" it really got under MacDermid's skin because now everyone knows who the imposters are on each team in the league. - dashripdot
This is completely ass backwards.
McDermid isnât challenging anyone to a fight and hasnât fought as a Devil. Guys get challenged like Rempe when they go out their way to headshot or injure other players.
Rempe is the imposter because he concussed Nate Bastian intentionally. Then declined MacDermid and then went out and intentionally elbowed another player in the head. Thatâs a POS move.

That is a tough statement to back up. Are you his therapist, breaking client/doctor privilege?
Again, you guys revere Stevens for his big hits. The only difference between the Bastian hit and most of Stevens was that this one wasn't in the middle of the ice. Maybe Rempe will learn some control from it. Maybe Bastian will learn to keep his head up.
Rempe is more then just a fighter. He has chance to be an effective bottom 6 player. He can skate and play the game. He is learning and made a mistake . Nothing more. If he can continue to progress as an NHLer then he will play. If he can only be a fighter..He will be gone. Simple.
In interviews? He sounds like a good kid who has worked hard to get his chance.
He isn't a goon - rrentz
He made a mistake?
He targets the heads of the opposing players almost every game.
He sounds like a good kid? He targets the heads of the opposing players almost every game and should be on his 3rd or 4th suspension already. That's right. Look at this hits and they have nothing to do with his height. If the head is the principal point of contact, then his height is absolutely irrelevant. I'm 6.4 and play hockey. He is responsible.
Goon? Lets be very clear, he is nothing, but a goon who is not a great fighter. That's it. Nothing more. Nothing less. Yes, he can skate. So what. His hands are stone, his brain is harder than his hands and he is a 5 min major waiting to happen in each and every playoff game he plays. He's a good kid...? Funny, cause Ranger fans were not saying that about Wilson and Wilson is actually a hockey player not a side show clown. If the league does not suspend this moron every single time he deserves it, hes gonna end up getting Ciccarellied and it's gonna look terrible for everyone. Does he have the intelligence to be trusted in the Playoffs...?

No one on the planet hates Stevens more than I do, but comparing Rempe to him is just dumb. Yes, they both targeted heads. 100%, but Stevens did so in a different time and his hits were borderline. Also he could actually play the game at a very high level. Stevens could also fight. Rempe does absolutely nothing productive out there other than purposely trying to distro head injuries which the league supposedly was trying to migrate away from. Other teams are wasting their time trying to fight him. He now is getting too scared to fight, anyway. I would just run Panarin or Fox. That's the way you solve this nonsense.

Yeah, that's it. He fought Reaves, Deslauriers, Olivier and Martin and dropped Sieganthaler with one shot to the jaw, but he's afraid to fight McDermid. It had nothing to do with his coaches telling him not to take every fight or the fact that his team was winning the game.
Do I like what he did? No. But, don't pretend you know anything about the kid or have watched anything more than the 10 second clips of his hits. You know fuck all, just like the rest of us here.

Then why was he chirping and following Rempe around before the elbow to Siegenthaler? Was he inviting him to tea? Fitzgerald went out and acquired him specifically to go after Rempe.
He's a combination of Chara and Sean Avery. If he just played the game cleanly, then he is great. But throw in the the Sean Avery like antics and dirty hits.....I wouldn't want him on my team or in my locker room.
