He's never held as much sway and power as he's had here. Basically co-GM, co-Pres, face of the franchise, fans love him, keys to the city.
The only way he can mess it up is if he overstays as coach. Move upstairs while he's got Hilferty, DB and Jonesy wrapped around his finger. - Tomahawk
to me he likes the power as a coach/gm. I do not think he would last "upstairs.
valid argument we just have differing opinions. |

I see him as having one more year and hope we move on to a younger coach but from Jonesy's comments, he's likely here for his whole contract. |

As we’ve seen with Torts and his bad habits he just can’t help himself. He is who he is. This stuff with getting tossed and not leaving the bench, he loves this poop. Lives for it.
He also loves roasting players like Brink. It’s his sad nature.
If he was smart he would do what Tomahawk says, but I don’t believe he is. He will succumb to his true nature. |

I think if they can't find somebody to take him they'll just buy him out, like TDA.
I don't see them feeling too good about burying the guy in the AHL and effectively ending his career. - Tomahawk
I agree, the Flyers would have to bury $3M next season, I would rather buy him out. Maybe the Flyers could get a 6th round pick for RJ if he actually plays for the Phantoms and shows he still has a little something left in the tank. But right now with this injury, there is no market for RJ. |

Tell me something, does posting things like this actually make you feel good? Because honestly, you have no basis to make a statement like this. I believe the franchise was screwed up under Hextall and Fletcher, but I am seeing signs things are getting corrected. Why can't you even acknowledge this? |

Imagine the Flyers are just trying their hardest not to embarrass RJ publicly by softening up the narrative but the triumvirate ultimately want him nowhere near the team. - Tomahawk
Agreed, I think taking his contract was the only way Briere was getting a first for Walker, and they have no intention of playing him in the NHL. Whether it is his personality, play or a combo of both. I think any talk of him sharing an agent (family advisor) with Gauthier is just drumming up drama for clicks. |

What’s interesting to me about the Ryan Johansen issue is, Briere refused to talk about it. Now let’s rewind to the Cutter Gauthier issue. Gauthier refuses to talk but Briere is singing. In my opinion, when someone refuses to talk about a personal, behind closed doors issue, they’re normally in the wrong. |

Per Capfriendly - Ryan Johansen has an injury to his hip. The expected duration is unknown.

When have you ever been right about anything? When have you ever accurately assessed the state of the Flyers? Never! While I have consistently been on point. Wait and see. This will turn out the same as every other difference of opinion you and I have had.

Johansen has enough size to play a heavy game in the bottom 6. So far he has shown he is unwilling or unable to do so. The Avs took on Nichuchkin as a reclamation project and we see that success. The Johansen reclamation project had him playing worse for them than he did in his last season with the Preds.
I don’t know much about Cap so correct me if I’m wrong. I believe the Flyers, Preds and Avs all get 2.6 Mil in cap space if the Flyers buy him out. You’re right, there is no market for him. He peaked in 2015 and had an outlier in 2022. He’s done as an NHLer and I think 31 other teams see that unless he can transform his game somehow.

Why do people want a buy out of RJ in the off season? That just extends the pain for another year. If he does not want to play and wants to he "injured" then just LTIR him.
I would also rather pat 2.6 for one year and bury him in the minors than 1.8 ish for 2 years. |

If Johansen is bought out by the Flyers. The cap hit for the Flyers and Nashville will be
1,333,334 for both the 24/25 and 25/26 seasons. The Avs are not involved since they traded the full portion of the cap hit they had for Jonansen |

Looking at the schedule just for the next week for PHL, DET, NYI and we will be in a battle for that last spot. I doubt we will hold onto 3rd in Metro much longer. We need to stay ahead of DET. |

1.33. I was trying to do math in my head and failing. I cannot imagine we want that much dead cap in 25/26 |

So it’s a gift to Nashville but no benefit to the Avs? |

The Flyers are looking at a potential of about 12M in dead cap space for next season. That does not include the cap hit for Ryan Ellis.

The Avs are completely out of it. They traded Johansen to the Flyers. They did not retain any salary.

I am aware of that. But if he wants to claim injury and a doc will cooperate, then let it happen.
If that is the stuff he is trying to pull, little temper tantrum, well no one wants that guy in their LR. Figure out a way for him to get his money and bury him. One way or another.
But, get it over with asap.
Otherwise you start becoming arizona |

What Doctor is going to put his medical license on the line to cooperate?
