The Flyers are looking at a potential of about 12M in dead cap space for next season. That does not include the cap hit for Ryan Ellis. - MJL
is that including petersen and ryjo?

Yeah, but if, and a big if, they are rebuild serious then next years dead space is not as big of a deal. You would expect that someplace around 25/26 or 26/27 they should start wanting to be more agressive and need the space more.
But boy, looking down the barrel of 12m dead cap is chilling |

Yes - MJL
Just making sure.
In your opinion, does that help or hurt the half baked rebuild?
In my mind I see them trade more vets away and bring up more young kids. Salaries will be low and that can help at the next trade deadline when it comes to Salary dumbs.

Yes, but the 2021 draft was overall a weak draft and the Flyers were picking 14th, so I don't think they would have got an impact player anyway is my only point. The 2023 draft was a very deep draft with a lot of high end talent, so that 2nd round pick to me was the more valuable of the two picks and the one I would not have given up if I were Fletcher. I also want to note that Flahr is doing the drafting for the Flyers and he IMO has done a terrific job. Even in the 2021 draft the FLyers got Tuomaala in the late 2nd round and he is at least showing he can play pro hockey in the AHL. Whether that translates to the NHL we'll see, Tuomaala has to get stronger physically for sure. - jd250
Incorrect.....many of the guys slected form 14 on would be the Flyers 2 ranked prospect and thats only because for some asinine work done by other GMs, Michcov, by the grace of the Hockey Gods, fell to them |

In a backwards way it could help. Keep the Flyers from foolishly spending.

I think it is an interesting reclamation project. 12th overall pick with a 20 goal season under his belt. What do they have to lose? - MBFlyerfan Exactly! And they gave up Allison to get him. I feel bad for Allison, but the kid simply can't stay healthy. |

When have you ever been right about anything? When have you ever accurately assessed the state of the Flyers? Never! While I have consistently been on point. Wait and see. This will turn out the same as every other difference of opinion you and I have had. - MJL
you crack me up cliff. we should have a cliff of the month award. given out to who is ever on point that month. |

OK I'll buy the silver lining concept here.
The Ellis money still burns me up... Even if we can use LTIR that's a ton of money for a loooong time to pay. |

If the Flyers could draft a ginger center named Johnson they would win the cup. |

Don't want to talk about he who should not be named, 3 more seasons. He will not retire either, can't give up the health care coverage.

Seeler is out 4-6 weeks with a broken foot. The minute I saw where that heavy shot hit him it was pretty much a forgone conclusion. Not sure why the smokescreen all the time with injuries. Just come out and say it. - Phillywhiteout No reason why you would announce a lti injury before the deadline if you can avoid it. |

How does Frost only get 11:43 of TOI? Can you do better than 1st star of the game? - mr4tno
Lol . Very simple. He is capable of pulling off a nice play hear and there. Otherwise he is a disaster. My hope is he plays well the remainder of the season and then they trade him |

I had a chuckle this afternoon when Steve Kouleas said that Torts' tough love of Morgan Frost has really been a positive in his development this season. This was on Sirius/XM NHL Network (The Power Play). Marty Biron basically agreed with him. LMAO!! |
