4th liner when it counted

that does not move the team needle much either way IMO

it's the easiest league to get into the playoffs

even loser points are awarded and after 68 games we are on pace for 83 points

seems my biggest fear of a step back and an 82 point season is off by 1 point

I loved the bold move to get byram and you can see a difference with him in the lineup

get one more d man for power

get a 4th line leader that can play 2 way and produce and a middle 6 winger that can be another tuch (lite if all you can get) and this team may actually be ready in the fall with 2 decent goalie and an actual nhl head coach

Agreed, that's why I brought him up. Decent 4th liner who can win draws and give you 25-30pts and is Decent Defensively. Everything we talk about here seems to have been brought up repeatedly. On a F@cking Train going in Circles.

Bo adds that speed and ability to run a 5 man unit .

Very bold “hockey trade”

Could be Adam’s best trade yet

Feels like a deeper-than-normal FA class. Good names at the top as well

sign pesce or trade for parayko and it becomes one of the best d group in the fall

there was zero chance casey, tage and cozens were playing center next year with all the prospects so one had to be moved to the wing IMO or traded

good trade for both clubs

Pesce didn't want to come here this last summer, nixxed a trade. Probably not coming as a FA I'd wager.

You were right about Bo. Much better than advertised. I had watched some Avs games, never saw this from him...maybe it's just tough to look at D when Makar and Toews are out there as comparables.

He's just like the rest of the team, when the pressure is off, he plays much better. When there's anything at stake, it goes back to this:

This brings up a good debate...
I agree that the team is mentally fragile, fails under pressure. Hell, the team referenced last year when they went through a 7 game losing string in March I believe it was.. "gripping their sticks too tight"

So, the question is, do you think this is something the players can work through and learn to succeed when pressure is applied? If so, does it require them to experience it once, twice, several times?
How does this impact future success in the PO's?

They are 17-12-1 since January. 96 point pace.

Do they crumble when the going gets tough?

Or do they dig themselves too large of a hole and fall victim to the slim margin of error they give themselves ?

I think it’s the latter.

This is a very poor way to say they sucked the first half of this season, when this group had pressure on them to perform.

It also ignores the coach and captain (who got traded away to go try to win knowing they would fail) publicly saying this seasons plan to win was thrown out due to failure.

After they decided the season was a wash, their team performance started to improve...the moment pressure was applied again, they folded.

Call it correctly, your spins lately are stretching farther from the truth each day.

Laying an egg Saturday was not falling victim to anything but themselves. They've laid plenty if eggs throughout both this and last season early and late pressure or no pressure. The hole they always find themselves in is a product of that

Maybe a real coach fixes this problem maybe its just in the DNA of the roster

Just a rooomer but sadly one I believe.

Yeah, you had him pegged from the get go. Would be a bigger name if he wasn't behind two perennial all stars and a couple really solid vets.

Sabres need to Win Hockey Games, the way the Islanders Washington and Detroit are playing at this point. They are getting the help they need right know. Go Win Hockey Games and they make the playoffs, keep fluffing your way through the schedule and you Won't.
- Buff36

Like I’ve been saying. All the teams you mentioned including the Sabres stink.

So it’s a matter of who can suck less to make it in

The second half performance came with all-world goaltending and is barely playoff pace. Without UPL, they are not a good team right now. He's covering up a lot.

Cozens calling the team soft, along with Tage admitting the team hasn't accomplished anything indicates it's a combination of both IMO. Fixing the coach or a few players is not the solution this team needs, Byram will be measured after his first long off season. Nothing will be done until Adams and Meatballs extensions expire since Terry won't burn another penny on this franchise. It's an organizational structural failure that is being ignored, and until that is repaired the losing will continue.

Honest question, did you really expect them to go 4-0 last week ?

Unfortunately losing the Edmonton game and beating Detroit would have been a much more favourable outcome but I’d say it was a pretty good week of hockey all things considered.

They had dominated 7 straight periods of hockey until they decided to take the 2nd and 3rd period off on Saturday.
