Who is their #1 C?
Buffalo has consistently had a very highly ranked prospect pool for 10+ years now. What has it gotten them?
The flyers don’t have a great outlook, but let’s not pretend that Buffalo has set some type of standard on how to run a franchise - Just5
If it is a question of overall young talent I am taking the Sabres all day. Tage Thompson and that defense group are a great start.
Sabres have been managed worse than the Flyers for over the last decade.

Jack Eichel called. He said Buffalo sucks. - roenick97
Yeah. I don’t think they are the standard to which we want to be held up to. Buffalo could easily go another 10 years without a playoff berth. |

Even with female dog Marner out, I think we’re going to get crushed. The d worries me beyond belief. It’ll take a great game from Sam just to keep this close. |

Funny to think that this team that has the Authentics so excited about the future isn't even doing as well as the 15-16 and 17-18 Flyers under Hakstol.

The Flyers have 4 first round picks and 4 second picks over the next two drafts with what looks like a legit superstar in the prospect pool already and a strong collections of young goalies in the system. Isn’t that cause for a little optimism? |

PK hasn't been top notch lately. I worry any penalty taken is resulting in a puck in the back of the net. |

I’m wondering when Sandstrom’s next start is through this scary schedule. I personally would have started him against San Jose but after watching the way the team showed up, I guess I’m glad we put the sure thing in net and took the two points. |

Potential 1C. Dylan Cousins.
The context is not if a team has a great outlook overall. It's how the Flyers and Sabres compare. The Sabres are in an immensely better position then the Flyers are and it's not close.

No legit question? The early returns on this past draft look really good and they have a bunch a picks over the next two drafts to add to the pool. The new regime hasn’t really done anything stupid yet so I think it’s ok to have some optimism. |

Why do you care about the Flyers short term cap issues if you want them to rebuild? - psuhockey
I don't but it's a comparison. Being 40M under is a better position then the Flyers are in cap wise. Do you disagree?

They are completely frustrated with the Sabres management and accept how embarrassing the franchise is. Add the Bills on top of that and they are a pretty humble crowd. - Briere
regardless of their record, they are not wrong to mock our front office(S). They have now schooled 2 of our "administrations". The fact that it was Buffalo makes is extra cringe-worthy |

Really quite interesting that the genius that constructed the Leafs juggernaut had similar luck to hextall’s when trying to do the impossible in Pitt. Very difficult to rebuild while sending assets out year after year trying to go for it. Really the only solution was to trade away say letang and malkin but they didn’t want to do that. Now they’re screwed.
In fact I’d argue dubas has done worse because he traded away lots of assets for karlsson and the team is no better.. |

No #1 Dman on the team now or in the system
A #1 C that is a HUGE maybe in the system. Only if he can successfully navigate changing positions to C full time and if geopolitical relations don’t get in the way (not trending the right way)
Yes 4 first round picks in the next 2 years. While I am encouraged with Flahr’s team and his drafting, 3 of those picks are very likely to be pick 20 or lower in the draft and 2 coming in a weaker than usual draft especially in the 20’s (this years).
Long term anchor contracts to navigate (risto, coots)
2 dmen that the team is counting on to be a big part of the picture that are undersized. (York, drysdale). Look around recent Stanley cup teams. Doesn’t happen unless your talking premium skill with small size on the back end. Need dmen to play heavy and punishing games on the boards in the playoffs. Still value in that. |

The past draft looks like it was really good. No reason to assume the next two will be duds. Also just because this team is fighting for a playoff spot this year doesn’t mean they won’t be picking in the top 10 the next two. This is a very shallow team, a few injuries can easily sink it and there are more talented teams behind them that are just having a bad season and could rebound next year. |

Think the Sabres believe they still have a shot at the playoffs, hope they play that way vs Isles. |

Frost has scored 50% of his points against playoff teams this season.

Add in Foerester might end up being a really good player. York has been real solid, zamula and Drysdale have some promise. If they do this the right way there are some things to look forward to |
