Same as the game in Toronto….the Leafs have that elite skill the Flyers simply don’t have. The play is close then the Leafs can just turn it up a notch. They bury their chances.
Ersson has been very good this year. Tough night but might be getting worn down a bit. Sandstrom? Ya he’s an AHL goalie. - landros 2
The Flyers defense is a mess right now. They are badly missing Walker and Seeler for starters. Sanheim is once again being exposed defensively, and without Walker, the Flyers need Drysdale to move the puck and provide some offensive pressure. I watch Attard routinely get pushed off the puck, too easily for my liking. If Drysdale proves to be unavailable, Briere will have an interesting off-season. I would like to see Ginning get in a few more games, the Flyers need this size and physicality, and see what he is before he decides to bolt back to Sweden. |

Did you say yesterday that the Flyers could contain the Leafs?

I come hat in hand to say good game in the previous thread and you decide to be a female dog (just like your coach tonight). Funny thing is, everyone in this blog was saying "leafs were done" last year and wouldn't make the playoffs this year. Good luck making it the show! I'll enjoy at least 4 meaningful games. - Aaron_85
HAHAHAHA. A Leafs fan making jokes about just making the playoffs. Classic.

The laffs couldn’t even score a touch down. What a bunch of losers 🤣 - coffee junkie
A touchdown is 6 points man, you were trying to be funny with the extra point FG. But I get it.

I did not have the pleasure of watching this game. Seems like I lucked out. THe defense is playing numbers 10-14 on the depth chart it seems. Just need to find a way to get six points in the next six games. April's schedule is all winnable games. |

When you are down to running Marc Staal & Erik Johnson as your 2nd D pair you aren’t gonna win too many games.
The Flyers, due to a number of factors, clearly overachieved during the 1st half of the season. Now, with Hart and Walker gone, Drysdale and Risto (he’s better than Staal and/or EJ) on the shelf, Ersson perhaps feeling the pressure of being the #1 and wearing down, Atkinson cooked, Couts wearing down and the complete lack of a functional powerplay, they are what they are.
At this point, I will be pleasantly surprised bordering on shocked if they make the playoffs. And, if they do, it will be because no other team stepped up and seized the reins. |

That's a Try After Touchdown, not a Field Goal, was my first thought.
Then I discovered it IS a one-point Field Goal, according to the NFL.
I guess in another 76 years I'll know enough to cover my hubris. |

They aren’t rebuilding. They are doing what they always do, retooling here and there while simultaneously trying to win.
It won’t work, and we’ll just continue stumbling through a 2nd decade of mediocrity. |

Yep. This is spot on. The Gauthier situation is the real kick to the balls. I have zero faith in Drysdale ever being healthy, and even if he is what’s his ceiling?
The problem is always the same. There hasn’t been an elite talent on this roster since Lindros. Giroux was pretty close.

I feel the same way about a team "defering" to the second half. I learned a few years back they actually have a decision to make. I always just assumed one team got the ball first in the 1st half and the other got the ball first in the second.

We had season tickets back then and it was a pleasure to watch a true dominant #1 center (a shame his physical game took such a toll on him). Giroux had oodles of talent, but he just wasn't physically built to be a true #1 center come playoff time IMO. |

Ok agreed, but Briere is trying to change that. It takes time. Elite talent does not grow on trees. The Flyers need a bunch of luck here also, which, and let's be honest, they have had zero luck over the past few years. My hope is the Flyers can move or buy-out more veterans in the off-season and collect more assets to improve their chances of landing some elite talent. This draft is not deep with elite talent unfortunately. Last year was the year to tank IMO. What a different narrative it would be if Leo Carlsson was on this team, or knowing Will Smith would be joining your team once his season at BC ended. Gauthier is a winger, and though might develop into a good winger, it still just a winger. Championship teams are anchored on their 1C, 1D and goal tending. |

There isn’t a way to rebuild by “Tanking” The draft guarantees nothing. They had the second pick in 2017. How’d that work out? They also put up 54 points in 2006-2007 and got the second pick. They came way with a player who was a playoff healthy scratch. |

The Flyers coaching staff is also trying to ride the Poehling line. That's classic Tortorella.
