wonder if JD will have some type of shoulder surgery.......
- hello it's me 2050
He looks like a soft player to me. Gauthier ranked as the #2 prospect by the Hockey News behind MM. The Flyers could currently have the top two prospects in the NHL. That trade could turn out ugly in favor of the Ducks before all is said and done.

Flyers, regardless of who is in charge on the surface, have always been willing to give away young talent - Sharp, Williams, Gauthier (they created the situation for the trade).....

The memory is a bit faded because that's 27 years ago (hard to believe). We had season tickets back then, and were at games 1 and 2 in Philly. I felt like Detroit earned those wins in Philly. Certainly not by a large margin and you might be right. Vernon was the better goalie in that series, and they probably could of came out of Philly with a split after the first two games, but then the Wings blew them out in game 3 and that was pretty much all she wrote. The Flyers were pretty heavily favored going into that series (they had won all their prior series in 5 games to get there), so yet another in a long string of disappointments. And then Terry Murray said it was a choking situation. Ouch!

Yup, we had season tickets too. The thing is, once you change one thing, everything changes. If the Flyers got better goaltending and split the first 2 games, do they still get blown out in game 3? Maybe, maybe not. Either way, if the first 2 games are split, it becomes a completely different series.

Yeah, can't disagree. I think game 1 might have been the one that bit them. Lots of hype going into that game and it was a Saturday night game. I remember friends saying that they couldn't get into bars cause they were overfilled. I think Detroit came into game one more prepared to play. Flyers probably should have won game 2 and then you could have a different series. The Wings gained confidence after winning those first 2 games and that probably factored into the game 3 result. It's a fine line in the playoffs and things can get away from you quickly. Of course, goaltending is always a wild card. This kind of reminded me of game 5 of the ECF against the Devils in 2000. Flyers were up 3-1 and the hype leading into that game 5 caused the players to not show up prepared to play (everyone had them in the Cup Finals already). To a man, the Flyers (Recchi and LeClair) said they lost that Devils series in game 5. Yes, we were also at that game 7 of that series when Lindros got laid out by Stevens and Elias scored the lucky game winner with 5 minutes remaining in a tie game. Another ouch!

I think it already has. We’ve got a perennially injured dman and they have one of the best prospects. It’s a mess.

Side note, looks like Ersson will get another start today. I guess we really don’t Have a choice. We need to get some points during this stretch but we’re going to run him into the ground. It’s why you really need two tenders.
