I do think Sorokin gets blamed unfairly sometimes because of the team in front of him but heās rarely stepped up this season. We were spoiled the last 2 years. - potvin05
Like he is right now? š
Guy was completely under siege the entire first and held the fort. Itās been blown coverage and high danger chance after high danger chance ever since. After a while the damn is going to break. He hasnāt been elite but Iām not sure what anyone is expecting the team in front of him is absolute hot garbage. |

He's played a lot, but those guys can handle hit. Hes in no way at fault for the Isles fortunes this year, but there haven't been nearly as many games thus year that he stole. It's not fair to expect it of him regularly, but I'd say he's been 'good', not elite this year - keaner17
We wouldnāt even be close to being in playoff position if it wasnāt for him in the beginning of the season.
Edit; I will say I agree he hasnāt been elite but the teams defense is god awful and has been the entire season. |

its ova fellas. They do not have what it takes. Everything they gain on that road trip has been given back. This team is about five players away from competing with the elite in this league. - Nfdbulldawg

He is the only one that has showed today and I agree. He should be named captain next season. - Nfdbulldawg
I think Barzal had a decent game, but I agree. Lot's of passengers today. |

Agreed on Barzal besides Horvat he was one of the only players that was noticeably good at times. Nelson was the bad version of himself today defensively. |

Well said and agree. I would even say very good. But he hasnāt been the same.
His number say it at the end of the day.

And now Iām sweating out St. Johnās for the NCAAs because of all the conference tournament upsets the past two days. Thought we were a lock after the close loss to UConn. Now, who the (frank) knows? At this point the sports Gods hate me so Iām betting NIT. LOL |

Iāll say one thing. Roy is much less āfieryā then what weāve seen from in the past when his team goes out there and craps the bed. In fact he has been the antithesis of that. |

Sorokin may not be a Vezina level goalie this season, but can you imagine where this team would be with just an average goalie this season? Would be like watching SJ. |

I'm going to go full broken record here, but over the past two seasons its just stunning how many fundamental mental errors these players make. We're not talking system errors but simple things like being aware of players getting behind you, knowing when to switchover coverage, dropping back for pinching dmen, not deflecting pucks right in front of your own goalie....the list goes on.
These aren't coaching issues. They're player issues. Just dumb mistakes that you expect peewee players to not make.
They're not a talented team, we know that. They compete by playing disciplined, positionally strong hockey backstopped by elite goaltending. The margin for error is too small to have this many mistakes integrated into your everyday game |

Some of us tried to say it was a player and not coaching issue. Lou loves these players and knows best. The Wolfpack was right again. |

Well I think most everyone knew this roster had a lot of flaws and certainly was no cup contender. I do think coaching was an issue to some degree but it's difficult to say how much. The bigger issue here is that guys like Pulock, Pelech, Mayfield & Dobson have been utterly abysmal this season.
There's just so many things that have gone wrong.
Lou is at fault for a lot of this, no doubt, but there are some players who are contributing tho the disaster that were not anticipated to be concerns |

In regard to my note on how bad Pelech, Pulock, Mayfield and Dobson have been the last two seasons:
Patrick Roy mentioned that Doug Houda is responsible for the d pairings. Doug joined the Isles as an assistant to Lane just prior to the beginning of last season, taking defensive and pk responsibilities.
He 100% should be fired |

I saved this team once talking to Ledecky about Garth and Doug. Do I have to do it again? |
