Battle of the toilet bowl will leave us 4 pointsdown with the sharks having two more games to play for number 1 again- it is what it is injuries and all but how much this team regressed year over year— is Luke still the right guy at the wheel?
KD needs to spend some coin in the offseason because I think if there’s another season like this it’s going to be highly detrimental to the fan base and overall outlook on this team |

Nice play from the top line. |

Just watched highlights from last night's Edmonton/Colorado game so I could get a reminder of what NHL hockey looks like. This Hawks team is probably 4 years away from hanging with either one of those teams, and that's if the prospects pan out and the proper free agents are signed. |

Nice play by Donato and the third line. Slaggert has had a decent game. So has Reichel. |

Slaggert works really hard and he is positionally sound. But again we won’t see what he can offer until he gets better linemates.
I guess they decided they’ll give Celebrini to San Jose. |

Riechel’s looked good too. Had he played that way all year and AA and Hall had been in the lineup, I think we’d have seen a more competitive team most nights.
Hopefully no Tinordi or Megna next season and a couple more NHL fwds of maybe middle 6 caliber…dare to dream. Won’t be great but likely a lot more watchable. |

AA has impressed me on the defensive side playing center since his return. |

There is no reason not to be pleased with our coach and GM.
Obviously a rebuild was in order and so far KD has not made any bad moves.
The youngsters are learning and improving while the team as a whole has responded well most of the time; they have bought in and work hard. Richardson is just fine as a communicator- his staff too
What more could you expect?
Steve from Glencoe questioned Ruchardson’s coaching strategy but I am not going to criticize with this group. Line juggling sometimes is just really not that big a help…..it is painful and expectations are not exactly burgeoning with this talent level
The team will continue to improve each season |

And this too BTW
Post game TV they showed Ludwinski score his hat trick goal #3.
As for Rockford they are rolling winning both home games this weekend
I am looking forward any prospects sign after their season ends and get some games NHL and or in Rockford |

Well technically the Hawks were better points wise last year. Would you have made this post after the second period tonight?
I can think of plenty of bad move’s but since the team was supposed to be bad this year they are easily overlooked.
But am glad that Bedard is as advertised, and Vlasic and Korchinski have improved during the season.

Within last couple days I saw a story about the LA Kings strategy to draft RH dmen. The Kings have traded from surplus of RH dmen - one such trade was for Fiala and another was to send Durzi to Phoenix
But what surprise me is reportedly RH dmen is a minority in the NHL and therefore teams covet the rearguards who shoot and pass from the right side
I know in the general population - in the USA anyway - preponderance of population is right handed,
Hmmmm! |

Screw the draft, I want to Hawks to win as much as they can. It’s unlikely the Hawks will finished 32nd, the Hawks might catch Anaheim but they won’t catch Columbus.
Realistically the Hawks will be drafting top 5. The gap between #1 and #5 isn’t as big as last year. The gap between #2 and #5 could be non-existent depending on who you ask.
If the Hawks were reasonably healthy this season they would have likely been drafting in the #6 - #10 range.
Ending the season strong and drafting in the top 5 is a win/win situation. If the Hawks don’t win the lottery I’m all in on Eiserman.

Nice win tonight, like i said in the last blog this team is going to put some distance between themselves and the Sharks.
Sure they are losing to deeper teams but for a bottom 5 team they are looking better than those other bottom 5 teams right now. Gotta start somewhere.
I didn't watch the other night but i like Slaggert he plays fast, goes to the corners, on the right side of the puck when the other team has possession. One of the things that drove me crazy about Katchouk. It's a long way to become a regular starter in the NHL but at least Slaggert has some good traits in him already. He did take some good licks out there needs to keep his head up. |

How many times has Megna gone north when the opponent has the puck in the ozone or neutral, that's a dense hockey player?
At least Jones looked like a solid defenseman tonight |

Agree and I'd also like to see them winning as much as they can to end the season. Would rather see all of the young guys playing well and getting rewarded for it.

Well the first period against the Kings was probably the worst collectively by ALL the defenseman all year. |

I don't know about that, they overcame a 2-0 defecit and won anyways, sometimes the other team makes plays.
Oh sorry i thought you meant Sharks. I don't know didn't see the game.
Oh i did read it correctly you changed it |

Just like last year, we pick where we pick. Hope the scouting department is dialed in. |

Okay, so if I read it right, the team that finishes last gets the first pick less than half the time. We should do okay as far as the draft. I see Connor is leading in the rookie scoring race by fifteen points over Faber having played fourteen less games. Add a point for every game he missed and he would be ahead by almost thirty points. He could have beat out Savard's 75 points if he had stayed healthy. There was no shot in beating Larmer. |
