This is why bringing in Roy was good. It's that different voice the whole organization needs. Lambert, if he was good or bad, was part of those ECFs teams. Now hopefully Lou or his replacement actually listens to Roy's input and breaks things up. Maybe Roy will be wrong too but he has got a different view of things at least. |

I don’t think Lou makes that Horvat trade without a wink wink extension. I like Horvat and thought it was a good trade, but if we’re being honest he’s a 1B center in this league, and that was Lou’s biggest acquisition since becoming GM.
Your last sentence is the elephant in the room and IMO the reason the isles are a continuously bubble team. - kindlyrick
Either way though, Horvat chose to stay on Long Island. Regardless, not worth nitpicking because I pretty much wholesale agree with you, we may just differ on the reasons.
Something's gotta change with this group though because they clearly are missing something(s). |

I don’t think Lou necessarily made this mess, but I do agree he’s not the guy to clean it up. Yes Engvall and Mayfield signings weren’t ideal, but there had been some trades that improved this team during his tenure.
The inability to sign a top UFA has hampered this team for decades. That needs to change. - kindlyrick
Lou caused some of this mess. He gave Lee 7 years along with Pierre and Mayfield and decided to keep MM and Cal. You cannot make back to back ECF and just add Chara and Parise. We can only blame Garth for so long. Lou has done a lousy job with this roster. |

Outside of getting Bo, Lou’s idea for going for it was to keep the team intact. Do we remember Lou's idea getting past Tampa was adding Chara and Parise? The #1,2,3 goals are to hire a new GM and let the new GM decide on the path going forward. Lou made this mess and a new GM will need to clean it up. Ownership needs to do the right thing now. - ses111

I think we should keep talking about Garth and just blame him. That will fix everything. Lou has not been able to do anything. Covid, Taxes, Cap, the Rangers have gotten in the way.

If the team continues to sink this year (which seems likely) and Lou is replaced, I think his best move as GM would have been hiring Trotz, and his most curious move would have been firing Trotz. |

Yeah I wasnt trying to disagree with ya, more like ranting. Being that the isles when trading for Borvat then had his rights, am I correct that they had the ability to offer an extra year term? That leads credence to the isles not being able to aquire a top asset without giving up assets. That’s the problem with this franchise and has been. |

I felt like Trotz wanted to be GM and as a result there was no longer a place for him on the island. But I do agree both a great move and baffling to get rid of him. |
