Nope, not saying that. I'm saying you're full of crap. - MJL Double standards don't work in today's society. Haven't you figured that out yet? How can you say that when he is reporting the same numbers that I am. Facts are facts, but when they don't fit your agenda they are magically dismissed. |

The Captain isn't speaking to the coach?
If confirmed, I go with the former.
Coots has been my fave for years.
Torts I tolerate.
As to the measure of the Italian's sense of Justice..... Caligula or Pope John? |

How is there a double standard? - MJL I completed my comment. Bill is reporting the same numbers, but somehow I'm full of crap and his numbers are right? They are the same friggin numbers. You okay this morning or did that surprise Flyers win last night really get into your head that much. I'm sure you were all lined up to rip Torts a new one, but that all flew right out the window when they won.

If Terrornto (sic) scores two additional goals, it would be fair to give the Flyers one and then we would have had a tie. - Pompous
I wonder, are we counting the post that Nylander when he had us dead to rights? I missed a portion of the first and the leafs broadcast kept saying they hit 6 posts on the night. |

The agent is speaking out now:
The most puzzling aspect of Couturier’s scratching is that he hasn’t heard much about it from Tortorella, who, as made clear by general manager Daniel Briere, was the sole decision-maker. Couturier said he has only spoken with the coach “somewhat” about it.
That’s maybe understandable when it’s a younger guy like Frost or Farabee, as Tortorella might just have been intrigued to see how a young player would respond to adversity, but not when it’s the 31-year-old captain who only had the “C” stitched on his sweater a little more than a month ago, on Feb. 14.
And according to Couturier’s agent, communication between the coach and captain has been less than ideal for some time now.

https://theathletic.com/5...-scratch-john-tortorella/ - Tomahawk I'm tellin ya...Torts wants a confrontation with his captain! Just like he did with Frost. Not saying it's the right thing to do, but where there is smoke there is fire. Seems like this is his MO. Coots is too mellow for Torts...come on baby light my fire! Says the Doors! |

If that’s the case, we see how and why his act runs thin very quickly. |

You stated that the official count said 4. If there is an official count then you can link to it right? For example, if we want to know the official count for shots on net, we can link to the event summary of the game, right? I counted and recall 5 hitting the post. I could be wrong but it's not about an agenda. It's about an opinion. You're just being you but that's okay. Somehow you think one win changes anything about Tortorella and the long term outlook. It doesn't. That's just you being stupid.

They showed some of them. I think there was the Nylander one, Tavares on a short side low post, Matthews on the 2 on 1. Can't think of the others off hand. |

Torts didn't want a Captain named IMO. Briere and Jones overruled him, and this was Torts' way of re-exerting control. You want a Captain? Ill publicly embarrass the guy in front of the whole world. I'll bet that was the 'treatment" Coots was talking about. Coots got the C and Torts went off a pouted in the corner planning his revenge. - MBFlyerfan
Spot on
As always with this team, they’ve traded long term development for short term gain. It’s a sad, tiring story.
I believe that Jones and Torts are of the same mindset and that Jones is the one who has ownership’s ear. I fear nothing is going to change for the better any time soon. |

Has the agent actually watched his client play the past 20 games or so?
He is either nursing an injury, just exhausted or something else is going on. Either way, hes been bad. Yes, we know he had a nice assist the other night, but more times than not he is not noticeable.
This isnt the selke from the Pitt series. This is a faster game than it was even just two or three years ago and he is having trouble keeping up. That's the truth. Hopefully that changes, but for now he needs to be better.
He can walk right into Torts office and ask and not make comments (Kevin Hayes) style as if he has no clue why he is scratched. I love the player, but when did he become Bobby Clarke or Mark Messier? If he is not helping the team win then he is allowed to be scratched and Bill - start being objective with this coach. You know the player is not performing right now. We know you like the player as you should, but you are kinda sounding like a naive parent here. |

Just another example of how Tortorella is full of crap. Says that he values and wants to build relationships with players. Yet players learn from text messages about scratches. They have to request meetings with the coach to find out what's going on. The captain and a very respected veteran of the team has not had feedback from the coach. It's a disgrace and it's something the team shouldn't tolerate.

Yeah I think Torts is donezo after this season. I have never seen Coots as upset as he was when he spoke to the media yesterday. Torts clearly crossed a line. If Coots pushes hard enough I think Torts is done as the coach.
