here is a hypothetical for everyone:
of course Coots deserves to be captain. but the contract term is rough. Keith Jones has said he himself was made a captain to make himself more tradeable. This situation with Coots isn't remotely similar in that one of these guys actually should be a captain. however, lets pretend we made Coots the captain to make him more attractive to a team like, say Boston.
if you can trade Coots and that contract - do you then feel better about resigning TK and making him captain? - anti-lame
I would have no problem signing TK to an extension. The problem is your going to pay higher salary for shorter term and longer term for less salary. The flyers can’t afford either.
Unless TK gives a Renberg type of home town discount I would trade him. |

Bill, I've been meaning to ask about Elliot Desnoyers regression this season. Is it physical, mental, or something else? - MBFlyerfan
Just the flyers development process |

Not worried about the Caps getting the win. My guess is the Caps take third and Philly fights it out with The Motor City for the second wildcard. |

Seems like that’s the difference between a 5th round pick and a 1st round pick. The 5th rounded may have raw skills and some better that others but they can’t quite figure out how to put it all together.
He may still need some time.
This is where teams may need to specialize developing their players. One size isn’t going to fit all.
Trainers and specialty coaches don’t count against the cap. If I was the flyers I would employ specialty guys to work with and maximize a player outside of the normal team coaching.
That coach can then let the team brass to know when if it will work out or not.

and i'm sure if all things are equal he'd choose the Avs over the Flyers unless we overpay. He's been good but we should take the 1st we got and run.
I like the Ginning/Attard combo. just like Seeler and Walker worked together (both playing for contracts) they were a set-it-and-forget-it type of pair. I like how its seems Ginning and Attard have each others backs, are familiar with each other and both play with the sense of urgency to stay in the lineup. I'd love to say waiting to put them into the lineup now was intentional but it's possible things like this just fall in our laps. They are both in a situation where they are fighting for their spot here and they both seem to work well together because of this. they are playing for each other as much as they are playing for themselves. ya love to see it.
i know, small sample size, but now is the time for things like this to click. - anti-lame
Correct as it was a no brainer move. Yes one would think he would choose the Avs all things being equal.
Those 2 are only in the lineup due injuries' and circumstance. Hope they stay there though if any 2 of the 3 injured come back they will likely be out. Unless they take out Zamula which is possible.

No as the classic wash rinse repeat scenario. |

Its just concerning to me to see him go from 23 goals and 21 assists last season to only 4 goals this season. That is pretty staggering, especially for a guy who was maybe fighting for a roster spot when training camp rolled around.

I personally think the Flyers are in. Barring a complete collapse which hasn't happened all season. With Florida's depleted lineup. They have a chance to win today.

They have that already. Angelo Ricci is the skills coach. They have a mental performance coach in Jeremy Rahn. They have a player development staff. Every NHL team has this.

I understand this. I am talking specialized towards specific players and skillsets. If hiring one guy to get Desnoyers on track to be an NHL player then I would do that. Are the guts you mentioned working solely with the phantoms players. |

Definitely can win against any team when goaltending is on and defensive play is locked in. Get the timely goals. I think .500 the rest of the way is achievable providing the Flyers beat the teams they are supposed to beat and give a good effort against the teams they are evenly matched or underdogs against. Thought they had two games remaining against the Caps but see they only have one. I think the Caps will get in even without Wilson for the next bit. Lindgren and Ovie will pull them through I think. |
