The tarasenko and Reinhart goals, they are wide open looks for 2 premium goal scorers in this league. No issue with them. The 3rd goal was weak.
What is dooming this team is not the goaltending. It is the anemic power play. I’ve never seen a power play get pressured so high like they do and for good reason, they have no answers. They don’t move the puck quickly, there’s no plan. It’s a season long problem at this point and the primary reason why they might be on the outside looking in in a few weeks - Just5
All 3 goals were save able shots.

Great….Rocky Thompson drawing up plays…what could go wrong. - landros 2
Rocky Thompson is not the problem here, not by a long shot. This game perfectly illustrates this. Bad goalie or not, when Florida gets a chance they bury it. When the Flyers get a chance, the shot is blocked or sails 5 feet about the net into the glass. How can you expect a PP to be good if you don't have enough players that know how to snipe in tight spaces? It's not about who has the biggest shot, but who has a the quickest release with accuracy. Maybe Foerster can develop that, but I have not seen anyone else on the Flyers that can do this. It's just lazy to think the problem must be Rocky Thompson when its been this way for years before he came here. |

What goalie was available and for what price? - MJL I don't know. That's what DB gets the big bucks for. He had to find something when he should have know that behind Ersson there is nothing but AHL level goaltending and it's gonna cost them a playoff spot. |

I get it that he was wide open in the slot, but he missed his spot. He shot it right at Sandstrom and it still leaked through. The Tarasenko goal wasn't exactly ticketed either. Short side...14 shots on goal and a .786 save pct. The third goal speaks for itself. He was awful!! Yes, the PP is a stagnant joke and the coach should be fired, but ya gotta get stops from your goalie. Should have had 2 points last night against a depleted Florida team that had lost 4 in a row. The Caps have a goalie playing out of his mind currently and Ovi is scoring again. Rut Roh...eh what? |

They can’t move the puck around except on the perimeter. They don’t threaten with seam passes, they have the talent to be better than this

Yes they’re playing better with Larkin. Despite that their schedule is pretty brutal and they make continue to flounder |

That 5 on 3 the other day was an utter embarrassment. No movement and imagination whatsoever. Last night's game was about goaltending IMO. One team got NHL level goaltending (they still had 31 shots on net) and the other didn't.

Exactly….he didn’t let two softies in….that’s the difference. Your not winning games against good teams when your goaltending is that bad. - landros 2
I would have played Ersson in this one, so reason a professional hockey goalie cannot play back to back games. Play Sandstrom in some games coming up against dead teams. |

That's on the players, not the coach. Do you honestly think Thompson is coaching the players to be stagnant on a 5-3? The mistake a lot people make is they think good PPs are due to coaching, they are not. The PP is mainly dependent on the skill, desire and imagination of the players. For example, York is a very good defenseman, but he is not close to the skill level of a Jamie Drysdale. Zamula is even further away. Frost is probably the most creative forward the Flyers have and I like him in the pivot or the half wall. However he is not enough, the Flyers lack shooters that can one time with accuracy. Until they get this, the PP will not improve. |

Its true Sandstrom will give up a bad goal every game, but against bad teams the Flyers can recover. Against one of the best teams in the league, they have no shot. One of the reasons why I knew the Flyers would beat the Bruins on Saturday is because I went to the game against the Bruins the previous Saturday and the Flyers were the better team that game, and I felt if Ersson was in net the Flyers would have won that game also. But no way the Flyers can give up 6 and win against a team like Boston, even though they almost did. Against Montreal, Columbus, Chicago, the Flyers will be able to absorb a bad goal against by Sandstrom. |

then you would have killed DB for trading assets to get a backup goalie for a playoff run. We would have seen post after post stating .. IT'S NOT A REBUILD, IT'S NOT A REBUILD. And honestly, even if the Flyers gave up a 5th round or later pick for a goalie would that goalie be really any better? |

There’s no problem with the goaltending. Things turned out the way we wanted. Get rid of hart so we don’t have to pay him and lean on Ersson. It’s worked out fine. Then when it comes time to pay ersson, we can trade him. No problem. Teams really don’t need goaltending depth as it’s not an important position. - Hextall271
Instead of being mad at the Flyers maybe redirect that anger to the kid that sexually assaulted a young woman and took himself off the team w egregiously bad decision making?

Relax boys, the Caps will not finish in front of us. The Flyers have been the better team all year and will also be down the stretch. After that slate of games, it would get a little tighter, and it did. The Caps are not without flaws either. Their defense and goaltending can’t be that outstanding with almost a 30 goal differential. If you’re still queasy, our schedule looks better than theirs going forward. Like someone said, they could overcome a bad goal against the weaker clubs, so only spot Felix vs the patsies.
It’s not like there’s thirty games left, Sam could handle the workload for what’s left.
