Based on Briere’s comments, Couturier should be commended for his candor with the media. In my opinion he should’ve spoken up more for himself.
He’s been treated like garbage. - StepfordSam
For Coots to say what he said he really must have felt passionately about it. The scratch is one thing. Never addressing it directly with him is unforgivable.

It was quite a thing to behold. The cult of Tortorella is scary. Brings out the lizard brain in a lot of fans, which is high percentage for this fan base. - StepfordSam
Lizard brain is right. It's like they can't even remember all the other times a plucky Flyers team with a roster that wasn't supposed to be good surprisingly qualified for one of the last playoff spots. Was 2016 really that long ago? Everyone already forget that Hakstol made the playoffs with MDZ averaging the most ice team on the defense until he got hurt and was replaced by AMac fresh off of 43 games in the AHL? |

It would have surprised me at the start of this season, but seeing how Torts has acted down the stretch here, I think it's the best thing for him to save face. I don't like the drama. - jd250

The team is definitely improved but there are a lot of Flyers fans getting giddy over a .500 team

Woo-hoo! Plan the parade! You're wrong if you think Tortorella is the sole reason.
You and others are going to find out the hard way. |

Lol, he's one of the reasons. I'd say the players who actually play are the main reasons. He has no chance of winning the Jack Adams. Move into reality

Same bet I offered JD, which he declined.
$100 says he does not win the Jack Adams.

He is getting blood from a stone. How can you continue trying to deny this when everyone knows that Torts gets the most out of what he has to work with. This team has no #1 center and no top pairing defenders, and they have had one NHL caliber goalie since Hart left the scene.

I'm having serious doubts that they make it to the dance with the Caps coming out of oblivion and Vancouver is still winning enough to stay in first place. If the Flyers make the playoffs and Vancouver gets first in their division it would be Tocchet for the award and Torts second although it might be close. I was being a bit sarcastic when I asked if they were gonna have a parade if Torts won the Jack Adams. I don't think he is winning it. |

You're mistaken if you think this team is without talent. The Flyers are a .500 team. You generally don't win the Jack Adams for that. I haven't denied anything about Tortorella.

There is NO ONE that had them here. If someone made that bet at the start of the season they could retire tomorrow cause they would have hit the jackpot. |

Why do I keep saying they're a .500 team? They've played 72 games. They've won 36 and lost 36.
If you're not willing to bet then maybe stop making the asinine argument of Tortorella winning the Jack Adams. |

Because they have played 72 games and have won 36. So technically they are a .500 team. Yes we all know hockey calculates "points %" and that is what they use.

I don't know, call me silly. It's not asinine in the fact that there is still a chance that he will win it. The odds are not in his favor however and that's why I'm not laying down a 100 smackers on it. |

Because they have taken 56.3% of available points, as I explained that % indicated pts %, not winning %. |

Also based on that, why couldn’t the coach just stand at the podium and say that the player is dealing with some health/injury issues? Aside from basically having to admit he mishandled a recovering 30 year old with a recent and significant injury history. |

Tortorella is a reason. Not THE reason. Season has been a pleasant surprise this year. Walker and Seeler earlier on were a solid pair. Coots played great the first 2/3 of the season. TK, Tippett, and York progressed. Sanheim started off like gangbusters. Foerester is having a good rookie campaign as is Brink. Frost is playing well. While the coach gets SOME credit, so does GMDB for a couple of moves he made, so do the PLAYERS for executing on the ice. But for anyone to say this it essentially all because of the coach, please temper your enthusiasm about Torts. |

That is not winning percentage. It is points percentage. You should check on learning how that works. There is no chance that he will win it.
The condescension while being completely uninformed is a good look for you.
You don't think he is going to win it but you keep asininely asking what I'm going to do when Tortorella wins the Jack Adams in reply to any commentary I make on Tortorella. |
