Last time I really remember it is Sid to Sheary in the first of the back to back cup runs against the sharks - Victoro311
That was actually Sid back to Letang and then Sheary floated into the high slot and Letang fed him. Slightly different but a set play none the less. |

Yohe on Poulin:
"Sam Poulin saw his first action of the season and played 9:11. He was fine. Nothing special. Here’s hoping he remains in the lineup so we can get a better look at him.
He didn’t look out of place, but I question whether his skating is good enough to thrive in the NHL."

Other than watching the kids play and see how they do, my main interest the rest of the year is Sid focused:
* 2 more points to pass Borque for 11th all time
* 6 more points to reach 82, guaranteeing at least 1.0 ppg for the 19th consecutive season
* 7 more assists to reach 1000 for his career
* 5 more goals to reach 40 on the year
* 13 more points to pass Esposito for 10th all time
These are all likely with 11 games remaining. If he gets hot he could pass Ovi (4th) on the all-time points in a 36-year-old season with 15 more points. He needs 18 points to each a tie for 2nd, which is a lot but never count Sid out.

I’d just like to see him play in the playoffs again. Those stats don’t mean poop. |

That's what Sid really wants. Its what they all want. I'd rather they make playoffs than all the individual stat stuff too. However, just doesn't seem to be the reality this season. So, why not want to see all that stuff for Sid that Mick listed?
I think all-time stats mean a bit more than sh!t haha

JP was playing angry last night and it was great to see some emotion. Shoving guys after whistles using the body on everyone. He needs to play that way to stay in the lineup.
DOC murdered a few plays last night. In the end it didn't matter but he can't keep doing that.
Inspired effort all in all. Probably one of, if not the most energetic game from the bottom 6 all year. I think the Canes were caught off guard a bit. |

So, having young hungry players worried about making a paycheck in the show is a good thing? Somebody remind Sully lol. Could JP be a net front on the PP.....never really saw him play much before this?
Yeah, DOC had a rough game. He's a good 3rd liner. I wouldn't count on him for anything more.

Writers and broadcasters just need something to talk about, I get it. If you would ask Wayne Gretzky how man PPG seasons he had he couldn’t tell you. |

If that group we iced last night wasn't the youngest team we've had in a long time it's close. Refreshing.
It also looks like we actually have a couple guys who can play at this level. Puljujarvi is on a two-game goal scoring streak. I looked like he got a couple of shifts with Eller and Smith to finish the game. St. Ivany got 15 minutes, which is a lot considering he plays behind Letang and Karlsson.
Poulin got nine minutes, which is about six more than I anticipated. I have to say, I didn't notice him much. The good news is he's going to be here a while. - Thunderbolt
I was trying to watch Poulin close. Felt he won a lot of puck battles, besides that not much. Thought the whole fourth line looked good and used their size well.
Hard to tell with Carolina who always dominated possession because every line ended up under, but they won big which was all that mattered. Third line for instance had xGF of about ten. Fourth line 42.
Crazy stat the only positive possession was the Graves-St. Ivany pair that were 90 and 73 xGF respectively. Impressive when every forward was negative and half the team below 40. Liking St. Ivany so far. Maybe Hextall actually found someone. |

I remember Mario being obsessed with his stats. He talked about them all the time. He wasn't even sheepish about it like some guys. It's how he measured himself against other greats.
If Sid breaks that record, he'll say all the right things and act like it doesn't matter. I guarantee you he'll take pride in breaking a Gretzky record. |
