I wonder that as well….sometimes guys get burnt out. It wouldn’t surprise me in the least if this year is Torts last.
I agree with Bill on his analysis of the coach as well. I’m not sure why some argue black or white….you can think a guy has done a good job over all and at the same time be critical of things he does. It’s called being objective. - landros 2
the CBJ GM said as much, Torts wanted front office, on the bright side, from what I see, I like Shaw

If you don't realize why he does that, then you don't understand Tortorella. You never have. Myself and others have repeatedly attempted to educate on the faults of Tortorella and why he is not the right coach for the future of this team. He over reliance to a fault of grinders and checkers. Favoring the defensive side of the puck over skill is one reason why. - MJL
If Torts cannot do a simple think like address the media after a game, use his best faceoff center the right times and alter his OT strategy based on the results over the past 2 years, he is not the coach for the future.
But you are incorrect in your assessment that Torts relies on grinders and checkers. What he values are players that check hard and work to retrieve pucks and win puck battles. Whether you understand this or not, hockey is won in the trenches, it's won by winning more puck battles than your opponent. It's won with tenacity on the puck. Torts favors players that have this tenacity. That is why TK does so well with Torts. That is why Tippet does so well with Torts. That is why Torts praised Panarin as one of the best puck battle forwards in the game the other day. He is not against offensive players, just as long as they are tenacious on the puck. This is why Frost has had issues with Torts, and why Brink has had issues. Compare Brink now to what he was when he was sent down to the AHL, its night and day. Brink is so much more tenacious on the puck than he was before he got sent down. |

But you never said he was hurt like most of us. You said he looked "cooked." - Flyfly
I said he looked cooked AND that he looked injured to me. I said this all the way back to December of last year. He looked cooked because he was injured. |

These are all great cliches but the simple fact is you usually use your better players in OT.

This post has nothing to do with OT, but I agree that when you got 3 on 3 and all that open ice, being a 3 zone forward is less important. What is important is speed and skill. |

Torts will lose more credibilty if the Flyers can't gain ground in the next 5, save the idea caps and Wings win all 5

It weird right now….I love the way they are playing….but they aren’t getting the stellar goaltending and the D is really missing Walker and Seeler as that stabilizing pair. With that said I have been impressed with Attard and Ginning. I also think Johnson has been an upgrade over Staal, even after last nights gaff.
I’d absolutely love to watch them in the playoffs…..every game matters…a tad more fun to watch then what we were forced too endure for a long time.

Look at the pattern. Torts skipping post game. Last year sitting up in the booth. He is absolutely getting kicked upstairs. It is likely already a forgone conclusion.

Clear evidence that you don't get Tortorella. Brinks handful of games and time in the AHL was the miracle cure! I'm not going to waste my time trying to educate you on how Tortorella caused Brinks issues. Just as he has done with other players.

Players often want to play through injuries, especially a player like Couts that just missed 2 seasons and probably wanted to play. I do believe that Torts and his staff should have tried to limit his ice time and give him a chance to recover. |

Yes you are. You're now gradually wavering on Tortorella. You don't have the conviction or confidence to stand by your statements. This is a continuing pattern

Torts in all honestly, does not deserve my conviction right now, as I have stated he is leaking credibility with me by the boatload. |

I don’t think that would be a bad thing necessarily. He’d have a hell of lot less control of the team as an advisor then as a coach….especially with the way he carries on.
I’m not sure if Brad Shaw gets the chance to take over? Or do they hire some one like Berube. |

You say that now. Another example of how you realize the sun came up at around dinner time. Myself and numerous others were repeatedly telling you that he is banged up, has been overplayed coming off of missing almost two full season. You just kept on going that he is cooked. Now you change your tune at twilight.

You are just a blatant liar and a TROLL! I said Couts was behind the play and looked hurt earlier this season and you bashed me for it, stating he just needed time to get his game back after two years. You NEVER stated he was hurt! I am the one that stated it several times before Briere came out with it. Everyone on this site knows what you are .. a laughing stock that apparently has no life, no job, no kids .. no nothing but this forum. Live with that! |

I think Shaw is best as an assistant coach, don't see much personality with him that could connect with players at the needed levels beyond Xs and Os. |

Would be interesting to know if Torts is truly looking to move upstairs next year. If that is the case (as of today) I hope the Quadrumvirate is already in discussions around who the next HC would be.
If I am betting I will put my money on The Chief coming back.

I doubt it. I mean what role would he be in, senior advisor? Assistant GM? I just don't see how Torts would be satisfied with that. But if Torts is going to continue to be coach of this team, he has got to change up some things, and control his emotions after losses. |
